Stefan raised his head to look at Harvey without much of an expression. However, he couldn’t help but apply a little more force when grabbing Miley’s leg.
After taking a deep breath, he spoke up again.
“Two hundred and thirty million!”
Many froze after hearing the number. Was Stefan planning to go crazy like Harvey? Judging from his discreet behavior, he wasn’t one to use that much money.
Maybe he was enraged by what he was seeing. Maybe he lost his cool because of it.
Miley’s eyes twitched; she wanted to stop Stefan, but she remained silent.
The auctioneer showed an odd expression, but then quickly knocked his gavel.
“Mr. Stefan with two hundred and thirty million! Will anyone go past that? If not, then…”
“Three hundred million,” Harvey said with a calm expression.
Everyone present were all from the outskirts’ elite social circle, but their hearts skipped a beat after hearing that number.
Many wouldn’t be able to get that kind of money even after working their entire lives! Wealthy families and businesses couldn’t just take out that much money, either!
Was that amount merely a number to Harvey?
Aria stared at Harvey, her mouth wide open.
‘This man… He wasn’t bluffing when he said that it didn’t matter how much he had to pay. Money really is just a number to him!’
Everyone was dead silent. Even the auctioneer couldn’t come to his senses after a long time.
“What? Are you mute? Do your job already,” Harvey snapped.
The auctioneer instinctively looked at Stefan, before screaming in a strained voice.
“Three hundred million! Going once! Going twice! Anyone with a higher price? If not, Mr. York will be having the One-Eyed Bead!”
The auctioneer was afraid he’d be killed by Stefan if he went too fast. He kept looking at Stefan every time he spoke.
Many people were constantly changing their expressions, before finally sighing. They knew they had no chance to acquire the One-Eyed Bead anymore.
Harvey was actually dead set to go against Stefan. Just so they wouldn’t get involved, everyone decided to remain silent.
“Going thrice…”
When Stefan saw the auctioneer’s gavel about to hit the table, he finally spoke up.
“Four hundred and forty million!”
Naturally, if this was any other occasion, Stefan would’ve taken out Harvey then and there.
Harvey clapped before pondering the situation.
“This is boring,” he said, smiling.
“Let’s raise the price. 1.3 billion dollars! If you can even give a dollar more than that, the bead’s all yours.”
Aria was on the verge of passing out after hearing those words.
