Chapter 758
Bartlett gave her a wry smile, “I’ve been crazy busy recently, either on the road or working abroad. I wanted to hit you up as soon as I got back, but it seems I’m a step too late.”
“You’re not late.”
Ellinor’s eyes reflected the blue fireworks in the sky.
After hearing this, Bartlett’s eyes lit up a bit. “You mean there’s still a chance for me?”
Ellinor said, “No, I mean, even if you weren’t busy, even if you had time to come see me, there wouldn’t be a chance”
Bartlett was taken aback, then a cold smirk appeared on his face, “Do I really fall that short in your eyes?”
Ellinor smiled. “Maybe you’re a great guy, but when your heart is already taken by someone else, you can’t see the good in others.”
Bartlett stared at Ellinor’s profile as she looked up at the sky, “So, Theo is the one who’s taken your heart?”
Ellinor nodded and said simply, “Yes, I like Theo. No question about it.”
Bartlett’s smile was a bit sarcastic, “Do you think Theo’s heart is completely taken by you, with no room left for anyone else?”
After heanng this, Ellinor frowned at Bartlett, whose eyes were gazing somewhere else.
She followed his gaze, only to see the hall empty as everyone went out to watch the fireworks. Only Theo was sitting on the couch, taking a call.
It must be Patricia, she was the only one who would call at this time.
Ellinor paused for a moment, “Theo has his difficulties. Patricia once saved his life, so he can’t forget what she did for him.”
Bartlett chuckled, “See, you can’t be sure that you’re the only one in Theo’s heart.”
Ellinor glanced at Bartlett, “But I know at least half of Theo’s heart is with me.”
“Really?” Bartlett’s smile was somewhat mysterious.
Ellinor didn’t like Bartlett’s presumptuous guessing, so she looked up at the fireworks, ignoring him.
Bartlett also looked up at the fireworks, “No matter how independent and strong Girls are, they always get lost in love. Ellinor, I’ve known Theo longer than you and I understand him better. He’s not the kind of guy who takes love seriously; you’ll find out soon enough that he’s actually quite cold–blooded.”
Ellinor didn’t like others talking about Theo like this, so she shot Bartlett a sharp look, “And what about you? Mr. Rex, you’re here talking all this crap; what kind of person are you? Taking advantage of your friend’s absence to sow discord, aren’t you a bit twisted?”
Bartlett’s expression turned gloomy, then he grinned again, “I may not be a good guy, but at least I can love you with all my heart! Are you sure you won’t
reconsider?”
Ellinor was getting impatient; she thought Bartlett was not only conceited but also boring. She didn’t even want to watch the fireworks anymore, so she turned
-around and left the terrace.
Bartlett watched her leave. He wanted to stop her but shut his mouth again.
His gaze followed Ellinor until he saw her sit next to Theo, then he looked away.
Suddenly, Jonah’s arm landed on his shoulder, “Bartlett, what were you talking about with Ellinor?”
Bartlett chuckled. “Nothing much, just wishing her and Theo the best.”
Jonah’s gaze followed Bartlett’s to the room; he happened to see Theo hang up the phone, then he embraced Ellinor, bringing their faces close together.
“Oh my! Look at Theo! If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe Theo could fall head over heels in love”
Bartlett’s eyes were cold; he laughed lightly, “Fall head over heels in love?
