She would eventually take everything from Regina. She would wipe that smug smile off her face, making sure she couldn’t look down on her with such arrogance ever again!
The moment Madeline left Regina’s house, her resolve was ironclad. But she didn’t head. home. With her face still stinging from the slap marks, she made a beeline for Harris Group. She needed to see Nolan.
Nolan had already told his parents about his decision and hadn’t been home since. Aline, worried after much contemplation, decided to find him at the company. Now, the mother
and the son were in the office.
“I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s too harsh on you. Perhaps we should negotiate with that family…”
After all, marriage was a serious matter. She didn’t want to see her son treat it like a joke, even if he was trying to punish that girl. It wasn’t necessary.
Nolan, however, was nonchalant. “If they’re so eager to marry into our family, let them. As for what happens after the wedding, that’s for her to deal with.”
Aline, ever gentle, couldn’t stand his tone and tapped his hand lightly. “You’re too serious, my boy. She’s your friend no matter what, and there must be some misunderstanding. If the Tanner family needs something, we could just give it to them, right? After all, isn’t the money you’ve earned meant to be spent?”
Nolan chuckled at this, “Mom, if everyone was as kind-hearted as you, there wouldn’t be any villains in the world. Please don’t worry about this; I’ll handle it. She’s a Tanner; she’s got to take the responsibility. Trust me, I’ve got it under control. Besides, Grandma and Grandpa are eager to see me settle down. I promise, I’ll be married within a month.”
Aline grew more frustrated. “We want to see you happily married, not rushed into something for such a reason. Tell me, do you even like this girl at all? If not, let your father and I take care of it. I assure you, we won’t get you into a marriage.”
Nolan held his coffee, not taking a sip, and finally spoke, “Mom, when I say I’ll marry, I’ll marry. No more persuading, please. You’d better spend that time traveling with Dad. By the time you get back, our marriage certificate will be ready.”
Aline knew her son was stubborn, but she also knew he wouldn’t do something he truly didn’t want to.
Just as she was about to speak again, Lucy knocked on the door, looking troubled.

embarrassing.”
Nolan frowned.
A Tanner making a scene? It had to be Madeline. But why was she here?
But Aline’s interest was piqued. “Well, let the girl come up. If she’s so determined to see Nolan, it must be urgent.”
Deep down, she was curious about Regina’s family. Since her son was intent on marrying. Regina, she might as well learn about the girl’s family it could offer some insight into Regina herself.
Aline spoke before Nolan could object, and so he had to agree to bring Madeline here.
