Dahlia wiped away a tear, her features softening to a youthful innocence that mirrored her past self.
Sienna was still hesitant. “But even if it’s for publicity, we shouldn’t drag Mr. Harris into this, right? I know you two have been on and off for years, but if you really want a resolution… Dahlia, this isn’t the way to go about it. He’s not the type to respond well to pressure.”
Dahlia nodded, “I appreciate you looking out for me, but the thing between us is something only we understand! You don’t really know what he’s like. Sienna, let’s drop the topic of Nolan from now on, okay? I have my plans.
By the way, can you order some takeout for everyone later? I admit, I was shallow just now, losing my temper at them.”
Sienna nodded with concern, “Don’t worry, everyone gets that you’re not really mad at them.”
But she knew this kind of carrot-and-stick approach could only work for so long before people started getting truly upset.

Nolan, sticking to his schedule, returned home only to find a tense atmosphere, grandparents both wearing stern expressions.
“Whoa, what’s got Grandma and Grandpa all riled up? You two are getting on in yea about taking it easy with the tempers, huh?”
Back home, Nolan dropped his guard, slouching on the couch behind his elders, look nothing like the composed Mr. Harris at work.
“Don’t tell me you haven’t seen the media circus online,” his grandmother huffed, turning her face away.
“Hmph, to think I had to learn from my friend that my grandson has a girlfriend! Didn’t e know I had a granddaughter-in-law!”
His grandfather was also visibly annoyed. They were old, sure, but they weren’t out of touch. Why hadn’t Nolan told them about his girlfriend?
Nolan stood up, scratching his head, uncertain how to explain. His relationship with
Dahlia wasn’t like that, whatever it was, it was all in the past.
“Where are Mom and Dad?” Nolan asked, changing the subject.
Grandma’s frustration only grew. “Look at you, hardly ever home, and now you don’t even know where your own parents are.”
Nolan knew then, it was his day of reckoning.
“Talian, where did Mom and Dad go?”
Talian rushed out of the kitchen, drying her hands. “They went on a trip, been out for a week now. They sent you a message, sir. Didn’t you know?”
“Uh, okay, got it now, you can go back to what you were doing,” Nolan said awkwardly, realizing his parents’ message must have gotten buried under work stuff.
“Grandma, didn’t you ask me to come home for dinner? I thought you were setting me up on a blind date or something.”
Nolan asked nonchalantly, and his grandmother looked at him, frustrated yet concerned. “Come sit by me. I want to have a proper talk with you. What does this girl do?”
