“That was my home after all!” Ablett’s emotions surged again, and Regina could only comfort him for the moment, “You have to believe that one day they will be punished by the law. The law won’t let anyone who tries to game the system off the hook.
Okay, that’s it. I shouldn’t keep asking about your past and bring up the old wounds. I’ll look into this man through other avenues. Don’t worry, there’s been some progress. Another contact of mine might know Domingo, I should be able to pry quite a bit of information from her.”
“Really? Does that mean I might be able to go back and see my family soon, out in the open?”
Seeing Ablett’s excitement, Regina nodded gravely, “Trust me, you’ll be able to go back
soon.”
It was only once she was alone in her car that Regina allowed herself a moment of somber reflection.
Unraveling the events of the past was no easy task, and now she was nearly at a loss for any remaining evidence.
Alone, she couldn’t possibly succeed.
But what if she had Nolan’s help?
With Harris Group at force, who would dare cross Nolan?
Regina suddenly remembered Nolan’s warning to stay out of this. He and the Harris Group were already investigating into the developer. Did that mean they had been duped too?
If he threw himself into this, the truth would surely come out quickly!
The more Regina thought about it, the more excited she became, and she drove str Nolan’s office.
Regina had expected to wait downstairs as usual before seeing Nolan; but to her su as soon as she appeared, the receptionist smiled and led her to an elevator.
“Ms. Tanner, Mr. Harris has instructed us that you are to be taken directly to the office whenever you visit.”
She was surprised but didn’t let it show.
The receptionists, however, was even more excited. Ever since the boss had mentioned to them, they’d been eagerly speculating about the mysterious Ms. Tanner. Could she be the boss’s fiancée? No one else had ever received such welcome. The moment they saw Ms. Tanner, they all nodded to themselves in understanding.

When Regina reached Nolan’s floor, Miss Lucy greeted her with a long-legged stride and a welcoming smile, escorting her to the president’s office.
“Ms. Tanner, Mr. Harris is with another guest in his office. Could you please wait here for a moment? Would you like some coffee, a drink, or water?”
Regina shook her head, “Lucy, I haven’t even greeted your boss – isn’t it improper for me to wait here? Maybe you could tell him I’ve changed my mind about the visit.”
“Ms. Tanner, please don’t worry. Since your last visit, our boss has made it clear that you wouldn’t need any prior announcement. It’s just that his guest today is also somewhat special, so you might have to wait a little longer.”
