The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 2762

Chapter 2762

Given the content of her previous conversations with her boss, Regina deeply doubted her female colleague’s speculation.

Regina had zero expectations; she wasn’t the type to get her hopes up. But that didn’t stop the rest of the crew from buzzing around like excited bees at a picnic, their paperwork long forgotten in the wake of the latest drama.

Ahab was smirking like the cat that got the cream, convinced the boss was about to roast Regina at the upcoming staff meeting. Maybe, just maybe, this troublesome newbie would finally be shown the door.

The thought of having no one left to challenge his reign over the water cooler conversations had Ahab practically jumping for joy.

Strutting past Regina’s desk with a stack of files, he leaned against her cubicle with an obnoxious “tsk.”

Regina didn’t bother looking up; engaging with him was about as appealing as a soggy sandwich.

Inwardly, Ahab chuckled, imagining Regina’s surprise when the critique hit her out of the blue. His hubris swelled.

“Yeah, you might as well savor your time here, cause who knows? You might not be warming that seat for much longer,” he sneered, his cryptic jab drawing eyes from every corner of the office.

Regina’s lips curled into a mocking smile. Ahab was truly a ham, soaking up the atte like a sponge with each step he took between their desks – his arrogance ballooni

every gaze.

Curiosity got the better of one coworker who sidled up to Ahab. “Hey, Ahab, you soun like you’ve got the inside scoop. Is Boss really gonna can someone at the meeting? Why else would you say that?”

Ahab shot him a condescending glance. “Just sit tight, and you’ll find out at the meeting, won’t you? I might know a thing or two, but loose lips sink ships, my friend.”

The man’s face soured at Ahab’s high-and-mighty act.

“Well, that’s certainly something to look forward to,” he said dryly.

“What’s there for you to look forward to? It’s not like it’s gonna be you. Some folks know exactly what’s coming their way. Just look at them, trying to make the most of their desk time while they still can.”

Ahab’s gaze was blatantly fixed on Regina, prompting the man to frown and think less of Ahab’s reliability. Regina was diligent, far more so than the veterans in the office. No sane manager would fire her on a whim. If anyone deserved the boot, it was Ahab for his lack of contribution.

Regina ignored Ahab’s solo performance, leaving him to his antics. Aside from a few curious onlookers, the majority dismissed his bombast as mere hot air.

But when the staff meeting finally arrived, there was an undeniable tension in the air. No one had slipped up enough to warrant a firing, right?

However, Ahab’s words couldn’t be completely baseless, could they? So, what was this meeting about?

“Alright, folks, now that we’re all here, let’s get down to brass tacks,” announced the boss, holding up a newspaper as he took his seat at the head of the table.

Ahab craned his neck, trying to catch a glimpse of the headline. Was it an award? A commendation, perhaps?

“I don’t know how many of you keep up with industry news, but I stumbled upon an intriguing piece recently. Thought I’d share it with everyone,” the boss began.

Ahab, ever the jester, chimed in, “If it’s caught your eye, boss, it must be top-notch. Throw it up on the screen. Let’s all have a gander and learn a thing or two.”
