Chapter 2748
Regina took a deep breath, “Boss, about that situation with the Harris Group, I want to keep digging. I’ve found out what happened to Ablett.”
“You what? Are you pulling my leg? Every reporter in town has hit a dead end on that story, and now you’re telling me you’ve cracked it?”
Her boss pinched the bridge of his nose, exasperated. He couldn’t decide if Regina was just lucky or if she really had some sort of magic touch. She had single-handedly resolved that mess with Dahlia not too long ago, and now she claimed to have Ablett figured out.
Was she riding some newbie luck?
“I wouldn’t joke about this. That’s not my style. Besides, I wouldn’t believe it myself if I hadn’t heard the whole story straight from Ablett. Can you believe there’s still this kind of strong-arming going on? Anyway, Boss, I just wanted to give you a heads-up. I’m going to keep on this.”
Regina turned to leave, but Boss called after her as if she’d given him a headache, “Wait. On which ground you investigated him? How exactly do you plan to investigate this? Do you even know who’s backing these developers before you dug in? I just hope you don’t end up in over your head.”
“Well, don’t worry about me, boss. If anything happens, I won’t drag you guys into it.”
Her boss was about to ask her to stay and tell him more when there was a frantic knock on the door. He let them in with an irked look.
“What’s up? Why’s everything and everyone flocking to my office today?”
“Boss, Mr. Harris from the Harris Group is here!” The newcomer who came to inform was visibly excited too. This was Nolan Harris, a living legend-everyone wanted an interview with him.
But the man was as elusive as his skyscrapers, never having sat down for an interview with any media outlet.
Now he was knocking on New Blossom Press’s door, which was nothing short of a miracle.
Regina stiffened. What was Nolan doing here?
Then it hit her-maybe he was here because of Dahlia. Besides, Nolan had her contact information; if he wanted to talk to her, he wouldn’t come to her workplace.
Ever since she hung up on him that day, just hearing his name made Regina irritable.
If they were destined to keep their distance, she’d rather he stayed out of her life altogether.
“Boss, since Mr. Harris is here, I’ll head back to my desk.”
“Hey, don’t rush off; we weren’t done talking about this issue.”
The boss was too excited to care that Regina was ignoring him.
Today might be his lucky day-Nolan Harris coming to him. If he could land an interview, a promotion was as good as guaranteed by year’s end!
Regina tried to sneak out amid the commotion but bumped right into Nolan as she opened the door.
Their eyes met for a second before she instinctively looked away.
Nolan raised an eyebrow, “Ms. Tanner, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten me?”
The boss’s gaze bounced between the two, “Mr. Harris, you know our new star reporter?”
“More than know her.” Said Nolan.
“We’re strangers.” Said Regina.
They spoke over each other, but the boss seemed to accept Nolan’s version. These two clearly had a history.
With that in mind, he couldn’t let Regina leave. Keeping her around might just seal the deal on a collaboration.
“Since you two are acquainted, Regina, why don’t you stay? Mr. Harris, perhaps you’re not aware, but our new reporter here is quite the go-getter!”
“Oh? It seems New Blossom Press trains its people well. Now even a rookie journalis made a name for herself, which is enough that even the Harris Group has heard of.
