Captain Aidan nodded in agreement, “Their concerns are valid, Mr. Lewis. You should stay back and keep watch. Let our officers handle the exchange. We’ll make sure the ransom is delivered to the specified drop.”

Mara was truly heartbroken. She had always known she wasn’t as charming as her sister Victoria, but even now, she couldn’t bear to risk her father’s life. She knew that an accident could mean losing him forever. Even if he didn’t love her as much, she couldn’t let go.
