Chapter 2599
Elton just gave Mara a cool glance. She was really acting out of line. But ultimately, he didn’t pursue the argument further; it was pointless to argue over such matters.
What was crucial now was figuring out where Balfour and Victoria had gone off to.
Mara had made a valid point, though-he would much rather they had simply sneaked out for a date than to think they had encountered some other misfortune.
Fortunately, after some inquiries, the teachers learned that the two were indeed close, yet there was no evident sign of them being in a relationship.
But this piece of information only sunk the hearts of the adults present even deeper.
If there was no chance of a secret date, it meant that the likelihood of another type of accident was all the more probable.
Mara felt a bitter taste in her mouth. She knew, without understanding when it started, that the relationship between the two had grown closer.
She had even tried to sneak a peek at Victoria’s phone, only to come up empty-handed in the end.
Just a short while ago, she could easily access Victoria’s phone and check her messages, but now, she didn’t even know Victoria’s lock screen password, and Victoria had started to watch her like a hawk.
They were still reviewing the surveillance footage when suddenly, the monitor at the entrance picked up on something.
“Hey, take a look at this. Are these the two students?”
Elton, upon hearing this, sprang into action, rushing over to see if the figures on the screen. were Victoria and Balfour.
But his heart sank when he saw the footage. They weren’t leaving school on their own. accord; they were being forcibly dragged into a car by two strangers, then disappeared from the camera’s view!
A cold sweat broke out all over Elton; he could hardly stand, almost collapsing on the
spot.
Mara, seeing this, screamed “Dad!” and rushed to support him.
But she couldn’t bear his weight, stumbling backwards until two male teachers caught him and brought over a chair for him to sit on.
“Dad, don’t scare me. Are you okay?”
The other teachers rushed over to comfort Elton. “Don’t be too upset now, sir. We’ve only confirmed that an accident has occurred. It’s not necessarily as bad as you fear. We need to contact Balfour’s parents right away. Those people who took them away must want something. We have to call the police.”
But this suggestion was immediately countered by another teacher, “The priority is to contact Balfour’s family. We all know about their background. Maybe with their influence, the kids can be rescued more smoothly. We absolutely can’t rush into action now.”
A glimmer of hope shone in Elton’s eyes. “Who are Balfour’s parents? Can Victoria be saved if they step in? You must save her; If anything happens to her, I don’t know what I’d do!”
The man, a father, broke down in tears in the office.
He was at a loss.
Was he not a good enough father? Otherwise, why would such a misfortune befall his child?
It was broad daylight, at the school-how could his child have been kidnapped?
He felt a profound sense of injustice. With so many children around, why did it have to be his?
Elton was in agony-why did it have to be his?
Mara remained silent, pondering everything related to Balfour. If his parents showed up, there might still be a chance for them to see each other again.
Yet, she couldn’t fathom who would want to cross paths with the Howard family.
