Chapter 2534
Understanding was one thing, but actually witnessing Ivy’s actions was quite another.
Deep down, Balfour knew they were inseparable, but it wasn’t until this moment that he confirmed that Ivy loved him so dearly in his life.
“No problem with the arrangements, but won’t your job be rushed?”
Ivy chuckled and shook her head, “It won’t be too rushed. I have a feeling Grandma will wake up soon. She adores you so much; she wouldn’t bear to see you upset.”
Ivy’s words were like an adrenaline shot, and even Balfour started to feel that Alyssa would indeed awaken soon.
He first drove Ivy to the dance studio. “Let me know when you’re done here, and I’ll come to pick you up. Don’t go back on your own, okay?”
Although they had no evidence to prove that Alyssa had been pushed, Balfour was still worried about her. There had already been an accident at their home, and he would not allow such a mishap to happen again.
He went to the headquarters of the Howard Group.
The Howard family’s affairs were well-known, and naturally, the company’s staff were also clued in.
Some were trying to probe their family affairs.
When they saw Balfour marching with his long strides towards the private elevator, they couldn’t help but drop their gaze, avoiding eye contact.
While gossip was human nature, self-preservation was also an innate trait.
Ivy, too busy to surf the web, was unaware of the online rumors, but Balfour was informed and called Leo to his office.
He rifled through the mountain of papers on his desk and, without looking up, said to Leo in front of him, “You know how to handle the stuff online, right? I want you to spare no expense in dealing with this. I want everyone spreading rumors to pay a price.”
Balfour was determined; he wasn’t as kind-hearted as Ivy. He was fed up with the constant slinging of mud at Ivy.
Ivy was good-natured; her estranged sister bullied her at every turn in life and even on the internet, not willing to stop until she’d drained Ivy of everything. But Balfour couldn’t stand by and watch.
Since Clara was already so down on her luck, let her fall even harder.
“Yes, Mr. Howard.”
Leo replied briefly before leaving the office, and only after exiting the door did he exha relief.
Quinton came over, surprised at his appearance and asked, “Just sending you on an errand, why so spooked?”
He clapped Quinton on the shoulder and said, “Man, you’re tough. To stand by Mr. Howard for so many years and still be alright. I’m impressed.”
Quinton’s mental fortitude must be the strongest in the company; faced with Balfour’s intense gaze, he seemed not scared at all!
Leo had only caught a brief glimpse, and he felt his knees weaken. He almost wanted to kneel and say he’d complete the task with utmost speed.
“You’ll get used to it. It’s not you slandering the lady online, so why the fear?”
Quinton could not understand these people; they weren’t the ones who did the dirty deed, so why feel guilty?
“Sure, it wasn’t me, but when Mr. Howard’s gaze sweeps over, it feels palpable, you know?”
