Chapter 2440
Ivy’s lips curled into a small, contented smile, “I’m just glad I could help out.”
Sure, there were a few who were just looking to get a leg up from Ivy’s insights.
But one thing leads to another, and conversations spark friendships. Before long, people realized Ivy was nothing like her icy facade.
Without even realizing it, many had warmed up to Ivy, and she was already so touched by their simple kindness.
She couldn’t care less about Colton’s words of people using her and so on.
She loved the thrill of being on set and was fascinated by all aspects of filmmaking. If she weren’t so smitten with the limelight, she might have considered working behind the scenes.
From the actors to the director, every role was crucial before live-action filmmaking was done and released. Each of them would affect the presentation of the final work.
“Ms. Dunhill, someone’s looking for you,” a crew member called out.
Ivy, her face bright with a makeup artist’s touch-up, was puzzled by the interruption. Who would come looking for her now?
She had already told Alyssa and Dean that living on set was like being in a convent; she was here to pour her soul into the film.
Alyssa had called the night before. She was longing to see her, but she hadn’t mentioned visiting the set.
Ivy knew her grandmother supported her career wholeheartedly, and she also always insisted that a woman must have her own career to earn respect from others.
If it wasn’t the old couple, Ivy couldn’t imagine who else it might be.
“Excuse me, director. I’ll just go and check,” Ivy said.
Colton took a sip of his coffee and waved her off, “Go on, take a break. You’ve been at it non-stop.”
Ivy walked away with a smile, but to her surprise, it was Tessa waiting for her.
Her steps slowed, and by the time she reached there and confirmed her presence, Ivy’s smile had vanished.
“What are you doing here?” Ivy asked with a cold voice.
Tessa, who had been ready to offer praise, bristled at the question.
“How can you talk to your mother like that? Can’t I come check on my daughter? You’re not half as caring as Clara. She may not be my flesh and blood, but she knows to treat me to a spa day every now and then. And you? You just pack a suitcase and leave chaos in your wake. I haven’t seen anyone quite as heartless!”
Ivy’s smile was long gone, “Yeah, you’ve called me heartless before. Why do you need to confirm something you know again and again? If Clara is so devoted, just enjoy your time with her. Why come here? You’re not welcome.
Tessa felt the sting of rejection from her grown daughter, who now grew herself and didn’t treat her seriously.
“You ungrateful child, without your father and me, where would you be? Speaking to your mother like this, no wonder people online say you wouldn’t lift a finger for a stranger. We clearly didn’t raise you right!”
Ivy clenched her fists, her voice trembling with anger, “And what exactly did you teach me? Favoritism? Or maybe it was how to be cold-hearted?”
