Chapter 2397
Alyssa patted her hand and helped her to the couch.
“I sent him away, Ivy. Have a chat with me.”
Ivy’s mind was racing; she feared that opening her mouth would reveal her jealousy over Mara.
Yes, she was bothered by Mara being close to Balfour, envious that she had known him for so long.
It was only now that she was ready to admit it. She cared for Balfour more than she had
realized.
“Balfour’s been causing you a lot of distress lately, hasn’t he?”
Alyssa’s voice was gentle, as if she were simply making small talk. She handed Ivy a cup of water, and holding the water, Ivy’s defenses began to lower.
Ivy managed a wry smile, unsure of how to respond.
“He’s a typical guy, so sometimes he doesn’t understand what I’m thinking, which is to be expected, I guess. Grandma, I’m okay!”
Ivy’s voice was tinged with melancholy, and it broke Alyssa’s heart.
“This is something Balfour needs to work on, a flaw he must address.”
