Chapter 2390
Once in a bustling film set, many doubted Ivy’s alliance with Diana, yet Ivy never doubted herself.
All she ever loved was acting, and since she had chosen to be an actress, doing her job well was all that mattered.
But now, she found herself pondering a troublesome question, and Margot could sense Ivy’s cautiousness, which only added to her heartache.
[Ivy, why on earth would you think like that? Come on, your performances are so captivating that they make Colton and the rest swoon. Who could possibly dislike you? Don’t you know you shine when you’re on stage? Let me tell you something – once people see you act, no one can hate you. I’m putting my foot down on that.]
–
[But you’re talking about the ‘me’ when I’m performing. It just proves how unlikable I might be offstage.]
Ivy sighed softly, prompting Margot to call her immediately, worried.
Yet Ivy was at a loss on how to show her positive side.
“What are you fretting about? Why would you give in to baseless rumors? Sure, public perception is important, but it’s not as
Cal as you think. We can’t live inside their comments! Didn’t you realize after the last incident? Their opinions swing with their moods; most don’t think before they speak. They don’t consider how their words might impact us artists. They’re just venting online! From the day we step into the spotlight, we’re at the mercy of public scrutiny. We’re forced to bear their unwarranted malice. That’s the price we pay for the stage, for the cinema, for the flashbulbs and criticism.”
Margot, usually so carefree, spoke with an unexpected weightiness.
“Besides, you have others to have your back, right? What about your husband? Let him figure out how to handle the online chatter! Didn’t someone say you’re only not suing because you’re guilty? Then sue them! Gather the evidence and hit ’em with a lawsuit. Show them there’s a price for spreading lies!”
Sometimes, tolerance doesn’t breed the desired outcome. You’ve got to make an example to teach people not to slander recklessly.
“What if I told you, even Balfour doesn’t believe I’m innocent in this matter?”
“What?”
Ivy let out a laugh after her revelation.
It was ironic. To Margot and the others, Balfour was supposed to be her closest ally.
But if even her dearest didn’t believe she was innocent in Mara’s accident, how could she

expect strangers to approach the situation with any reason?
“You’re not joking, are you?”
Margot’s mouth hung open, incredulous.
“How could he think that? You could never do such a thing.”
Margot imagined Ivy must be hurting badly. Otherwise, the online vitriol wouldn’t have gotten to her so deeply.
“I’m speechless. How outrageous can Balfour be? Doesn’t he remember you’re still recovering? How could you possibly hurt someone else? That brainless guy, I’m going to give him a piece of my mind!”
Margot hung up furiously and when Ivy tried to call back, she found the line busy.
She wasn’t sure if Margot would actually confront Balfour.
Ivy hoped Margot wouldn’t call him; things were embarrassing enough already.
