Chapter 2232
Ivy hadn’t been unconscious for long, but during those couple of hours she was out, every minute felt like an eternity to Balfour.
Rushing back from an overseas trip, Balfour had been working non-stop for days. Upon reaching the hospital, he was utterly exhausted. He took Ivy’s hand, slumped beside her bed, and fell asleep.
Their hands remained intertwined, ensuring that Balfour would wake the moment Ivy stirred.
“Uh…”
A faint twitch of Ivy’s fingertips was all it took for Balfour to snap to attention.
“Ivy?”
Ivy’s brow was furrowed, as if she were battling some inner agony.
“Uh…” she whimpered softly, intensifying Balfour’s worry.
He couldn’t bear to imagine the terror she must have felt, gasping for breath.
Ivy’s eyes fluttered, struggling to focus, eventually she managed to open them.
Her gaze fell upon the sterile whiteness of the room, and she struggled to understand where she was until a familiar male voice reached her ears.
“Ivy, how do you feel? Any pain?”
Bloodshot with worry, Balfour’s eyes met hers, and Ivy immediately noticed his concern.
“Why are you here? Where… where am I?”
Balfour replied, “You’re in the hospital. You had a drowning accident and passed out. You only just regained consciousness. Are you in pain anywhere?”
Ivy was still a bit dazed. She attempted a nod to signal she was fine but was instantly dizzy.
Balfour noticed her discomfort and quickly stopped her.
“Don’t move; you’ve just woken up. Just relax, I’ll call the doctor to check on you.”
With a slow blink, Ivy acknowledged, and Balfour dashed off to fetch the doctor.
The doctor arrived promptly as Ivy had been moved to a VIP room ahead of time.
Ivy had the luxury of a personal medical team, ready to respond to her every need at a moment’s notice.
After a thorough examination, the doctor turned to reassure them both.

Chapter 2232
“Mr. Howard, your wife is out of danger now. She just needs some rest. Both physically and emotionally, she’ll need time to recover.”
“No complications? She seems so uncomfortable. Could there be any lasting effects?”
With a reassuring smile, the doctor replied, “Rest easy, Mr. Howard. Your wife’s in good shape. We’ve completed all the necessary checks since she arrived. After a couple of days of rest to regain her strength, we’ll schedule a comprehensive check-up. Right now, she needs rest. Further tests without proper rest would do more harm than good.”
Reassured by the detailed explanation, Balfour finally relaxed.
Once the doctor left, Balfour settled into the chair beside her bed.
Taking Ivy’s hands in his, he murmured, “Do you have any idea how terrified I was?”
His voice was so low and strained, Ivy had never heard him speak like that before.
Seeing him so worn out, Ivy instinctively wanted to apologize, “I’m sorry… for troubling you again…”
Balfour pressed his forehead to her hands and gently rubbed them, “Sorry? What trouble? I know you did nothing wrong. You were scared too, weren’t you?”
With a faint smile toward Ivy, he could see her eyes welling up, and before long, tears fell freely.
