Chapter 2224
The director and producer followed the ambulance to the hospital, leaving the rest of the crew jittery and on edge back on set.
“I mean, I know Ivy can’t swim for nuts, but we went through the scene so many times, she couldn’t have gotten into trouble in less than thirty seconds, right?”
One of the lifeguards was particularly anxious, fearing he’d be the scapegoat if anything
went south.
“I don’t get it either, but something seemed off. When it was time for Ivy to surface, she didn’t pop up right away. I thought it was just a second or two delayed, and if she were in trouble, she’d call out for help. So, I didn’t rush over. I didn’t want to disrupt the shoot and get an earful from the director. Little did I know we’d have such a mishap.”
Diana smirked to herself where no one could see.
She truly was a genius. When it happened, she was the only one close enough to Ivy to act discreetly.
As Ivy struggled to stay afloat, Diana had a vice grip on her wrist, keeping her under water. Diana even continued mouthing her lines, then suddenly shouted to the shore, “Ivy’s gone!”
It took only five or six seconds for Ivy to start choking, and soon she lost consciousness
underwater.
Even if Ivy regained consciousness, Diana wouldn’t be concerned.
In the murky depths, with no witnesses and Ivy’s own fear of water likely to play tricks on her mind, a few words would be enough to sweep it all under the rug.
“You didn’t do it on purpose, guys. Ivy’s got a guardian angel; she’ll be fine! Just you wait
and see!”
Diana’s eyes were red as she feigned shock and terror, hands pressed together in prayer for Ivy.
The crew, observing her in this state, never suspected that she was the one who nearly drowned Ivy.
“While Diana may have been a bit over the top before, she probably doesn’t want to see anyone die either.”
Many crew members were taken in by Diana’s act and joined in the prayers for Ivy.
Ever since Ivy joined the cast, there had been quite a few ups and downs.
They might not have been the closest of colleagues, but nobody wanted to see a
co-worker, someone they’d just been working with, lose their life in the blink of an eye.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, the seconds ticked by relentlessly. Alyssa and Dean sat grim-faced outside the emergency room.
“What did Balfour say? Is he coming back?”
Dean’s brows were furrowed, thinking the situation called for Balfour’s presence.
“How dare he not come back? I gave him a ring, and Ivy’s still in there, fighting for her life. If he doesn’t show up…”
Her words were tinged with blame, but the very next second, she slapped her own mouth.
“Our Ivy is going to be just fine!”
Both elders were advanced in years, and Colton and the producer felt uneasy seeing them
wait like this.
So, they tried to step in, suggesting the couple head home to rest and promising to update them with any news on Ivy.
“Don’t bother us; you’ve got enough on your plate as it is,” Alyssa snapped.
Initially, Colton thought Alyssa was referencing some scandal that had rocked the set
previously.
It wasn’t until the producer sensed something was off and pulled Colton aside to check the trending topics online that they realized the gravity of the situation.
