Chapter 2221
Diana cast an indifferent glance, barely acknowledging Colton’s words with more than a
flicker of disinterest.
Once Ivy, having caught her breath, felt an unexpected kinship with the
no was c water. It was not long before the cameras started rolling.
“Aurora, I’ve always been this way. As my friend for so many years, you should know better than anyone. I haven’t changed,” Valor said, trying to explain herself despite the effort it took.
But her words were met with a harsh shove from Aurora, sending her tumbling into the
sea.
They had grown up by the seaside, understanding all too well the dangers of high tide.
Yet even in such peril, Aurora had pushed her into the water. Valor felt a jolt of shock and a bitter taste in her mouth…
Ivy allowed her body to relax, sinking into the water’s embrace. She counted the seconds. in her head, knowing that once she reached thirty, she could surface safely.
“Eighteen, nineteen…”
Aurora was not as heartless as she seemed. Valor was her dearest friend; how could she stand by and watch her get swept away?
She swam frantically towards the spot where Valor had fallen.
“Don’t be afraid, I’m coming to save you-”
Aurora swam determinedly towards Valor as the water rose dangerously high.
“Twenty-five, twenty-six… Twenty-nine, thirty!”
Just as Ivy was about to emerge triumphantly, she felt a pair of hands gripping her arms tightly.
Already fearful of the enclosed waters, these hands seemed intent on dragging her down to the depths of hell itself.
She struggled desperately but could not shake the grasp.
“Mmm… Help…”
Ivy could not even manage to break the surface to cry for help.
But after lingering three seconds longer than planned, her body stiffened, her limbs outstretched as she sank deeper into the sea.
“Director, where’s Ivy? Is she alright? I can’t find her!” Diana, too, cast aside all pretense,
10.49 m
standing up in the water and yelling for the safety crew.
“Somebody, help! Ivy’s gone under! Somebody!
Diana’s expression looked genuinely panicked.
Colton, seeing this, shoved his equipment aside and dashed into the sea, knocking over chairs in his haste.
In a moment, the crew members were leaping into the water like dumplings being dropped into a pot, fearing that even a second’s delay would be too late to save Ivy.
But fate seemed to conspire against them. By the time they dragged Ivy to shore, her breathing was so shallow they could hardly tell she was alive.
“One, two, three…” Two lifeguards pumped Ivy’s chest desperately.
Everyone on set held their breath, many of whom were merely acquaintances of Ivy, but no one wanted to witness a life slip away right before their eyes.
Even Diana, Ivy’s on-screen rival, stood quietly to the side, refraining from her usual snide remarks.
But unnoticed by all, a sly smile flickered across Diana’s lips.
It seemed Ivy could not handle the pressure and succumbed to unconsciousness.
How fitting, thought Diana. If Ivy were out of the picture, the lead role would be hers for the taking.
