Balfour had not come home all night, and Ivy could hardly remember how she fell asleep.
The next morning, when she awoke, she was surprised to find Quinton downstairs.
Alyssa was leisurely enjoying her breakfast at the nearby dining table. Seeing Ivy descend the stairs, she greeted her with a beaming smile.
Quinton also respectfully greeted Ivy.
“Quinton, what brings you here at this hour?”
Ivy was puzzled. Normally, Quinton shadowed Balfour and would not just show up at their home.
With a slight nod, Quinton replied, “Mr. Balfour left for an international trip last night. I’m here to pack some of his things and catch the nine o’clock flight to meet up with him.”
He left the country?
Ivy was taken aback, then nodded silently, holding her tongue.
As Ivy got ready for the day, Quinton went upstairs to gather Balfour’s luggage.
Balfour had slipped away without a word to Ivy, which irked Alyssa, though she did not show her displeasure in front of Ivy.
The couple could not afford more misunderstandings. Their relationship was already fraught with tension.
How could Balfour leave the country at a time like this? It wasn’t so sensible.
The couple already struggled to communicate, and his departure would only deepen the rift between them!
Once seated, Alyssa tenderly ensured Ivy had breakfast.
Ivy remained quiet, but she knew Balfour’s sudden trip must be related to the phone call from the day before.
But whatever reason that man had for leaving, it certainly was not for her.
With that thought, Ivy felt a pang of desolation. She shook her head to dismiss these thoughts and tried not to dwell on Balfour.
She ate little, claiming she was full, unable to stomach more.

Worried that Ivy might get even more upset by internalizing her unhappiness, Alyssa was
about to offer some words of comfort when Ivy stood up, announcing
to the set for filming.

Not wanting to press further, Alyssa had the servants pack two thermoses full of pastries for lvy, fearing she might go hungry during her long day at work.
After bidding farewell to Dean and Alyssa with a smile, Ivy set off. But as she turned away, the smile faded from her face…
Even Dean was now worried about his grandson and granddaughter-in-law’s relationship. Balfour could be so thoughtless – who flies off to another country after a quarrel?
But it was too late for Dean to scold Balfour; he was already abroad.
Dean and Alyssa reminded Quinton to tell Balfour to return home soon and not let business abroad delay him too much.
Quinton respectfully agreed though he could not divulge the specifics of Balfour’s business to the old couple. He would simply convey their concerns to Balfour.
Tvy soon arrived at the set.
She took a deep breath before getting out of the car, trying to adjust her emotional state.
To be honest, today’s shoot was a psychological challenge. After Balfour’s temper tantrum at the set yesterday, which left the lead actor injured, she dreaded the crew’s strange looks.
But the show must go on, and she was contractually obligated to finish her job, whether
she felt like it.
Besides, she owed Ryan a face-to-face apology.
