Chapter 2172
“Don’t worry. It’s just a case of live and learn for me.”
The place was a mess, with more than a few folks cornering Colton to get the scoop on whether Giselle was really behind the scandal,
“Back off, will ya? The cops were just here, didn’t you see them, or is your head in the clouds?” Colton snapped.
The questioner just chuckled and replied, “Just double-checking with you, man. Wouldn’t want to get the wrong end of the stick, would I?”
Colton waved dismissively, “Alright, enough jawing. Giselle did it, that’s all you need to know. Mind your own beeswax for the rest.”
The noise was unbearable, everyone still reeling from the bombshell.
The din wasn’t about to die down anytime soon, and Balfour was frowning, clearly itching to take a hike.
He sidled up to Ivy, who was about to ask him something when he cut in, “Hungry?”
“Huh?”
Ivy looked puzzled, but Balfour repeated, “I said, are you hungry? Shall we grab a bite together?”
Though he posed it like a question, his face said it all; a ‘no’ wasn’t an option without ruffling his feathers.
Ivy nodded. With the drama resolved, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
Plus, she was curious if Balfour had masterminded the whole thing.
“Let’s go, I could eat. There’s a great deli nearby that does killer sandwiches. How about there?”
Balfour agreed without objection to her choice of eatery.
All he wanted was a quiet spot where he and Ivy could settle down for a proper chat.
Despite having plenty to talk about over the meal, when they finally sat down, they ended up staring at each other, speechless and unsure where to start.
“You…”
“…”
They both began at the same time, then stopped short.
Ivy giggled, breaking the silence, “You go first.”

“Alright,” Balfour nodded, “I want you to forget what I said last night when I got home. I didn’t mean any of it.”
Ivy nodded, “I know you got mad because I misunderstood you. I wanted to ask… orchestrate Giselle’s arrest?”

She looked up earnestly at Balfour. Whether or not he was involved mattered greatly to
her.
Before meeting Balfour, Ivy never imagined someone always being on her side.
Now, it seemed she had found that person.
Appetites grow, and after the first taste of support, she found herself yearning for more.
She hoped Balfour would always trust her, always stand by her without hesitation.
Ivy was testing the waters with Balfour, uncertain if she mattered to him as much as he did to her, especially considering his long history with Giselle.
He nodded slightly, “I went out yesterday afternoon to sort it out. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to worry. Until it was resolved, even I wasn’t sure if I could secure the
evidence.”
Balfour’s tone was casual, as if he’d just been to a routine business meeting.
Only Ivy knew the extent of what he’d risked for her.
“Thank you, and I’m sorry. I misunderstood you. You were out there for me, and I thought
you were…”
