Chapter 2042
After all, besides this guy, she did not know anyone else who could help her fix this mess so quickly.
Ivy typed the trending keywords into the search bar and clicked on the first post that popped up, a makeup artist’s latest tweet, clarifying that the rumors spreading online were not true.
It had been posted just over half an hour ago, and after it went live, the public sentiment made a complete 180-degree turn.
The hate directed at Ivy stopped. No longer were people insinuating she and Colton were anything but professional. Now, the makeup artist was under fire, accused of spouting nonsense for clout.
[This statement is released voluntarily to clear the air. My previous post was the result of a malicious hack aimed at smearing Ivy. She’s actually a sweetheart, very easy to work with, and there was absolutely no theft. My departure from the set was due to other commitments and had nothing to do with the lead actress. I felt compelled to set the record straight.]
The makeup artist deleted her previous tweet and put up this new one to clarify things.
Following her tweet, a wave of support for Ivy began to swell online, with many expressing sympathy for the defamation she had endured.
Some alleged crew members even stepped forward to vouch for her character, denying any theft or inappropriate conduct with the director.
After this series of events, the narrative online swiftly shifted from defamation to support and admiration for Ivy.
[Heartbroken that girl was slandered before she could even get her foot in the industry.]
[How could someone say such awful things about her when she’s so gorgeous?]
[Clearly, someone’s jealous that she landed a role in a big production right off the bat!]
At that moment, in the Dunhill household, Clara was absolutely fuming!
She had finally seen a chance to take Ivy down a peg, and, just like that, the whole situation was defused.
And to make matters worse, the same online mob that had been gunning for Ivy was now flooding her comments section with
vitriol.
“Two Faced Clara” shot up the trending list, with everyone blaming her for spreading misinformation.
Ivy, that lucky witch! Why did she get to walk away from this unscathed?
Clara was simmering with rage, on the verge of exploding.
Meanwhile, seeing the tide turn online, Ivy looked up with a complex expression at Balfour sitting beside her.
To squash the rumors so quickly and get the makeup artist to issue a voluntary clarification, Ivy knew only one person could pull it
off-Balfour.
“Balfour…” Ivy held up her phone to him, “Thanks, I mean it. This couldn’t have been easy to handle, right?”
Balfour replied with his usual nonchalance, “Quinton took care of it. It was simple.”
For many, this situation would have been unmanageable. If it were left to Ivy, she would not have known where to begin, let alone have the clout to resolve it.
But for Balfour, all it took was one command, and his people would make the problem disappear.
Even though it was easy for him, Balfour was not obligated to clean up her mess. His willingness to help meant the world to Ivy.
“Thank you, and I’m sorry for the trouble I caused. I promise I’ll be more cautious from now on. No more incidents like this,” Ivy declared, extending her hand in a solemn yow.
“The entertainment industry is far from simple. Stuff like this will probably happen again. It might even be worse next time. Are you really ready to be in the spotlight?”
To say she was ready would be a lie.
