Chapter 1889
Ellinor didn’t believe her mother’s professed disinterest and continued, “The Howard’s backyard is home to a particular flower, beautiful, rare, and difficult to cultivate. It’s called the Moonlight.”
Hearing this, Marlinie’s pupils contracted in shock, and she looked at Ellinor with astonishment. “What?”
Ellinor went on, “Mr. McNeil told me it was his late wife’s favorite flower. Over the years, he’s been spending most of his time tending to that garden, caring for those flowers. Even his current wife, he hardly pays her any attention. They live under the same roof but sleep in separate beds.”
Marlinie was shocked and puzzled at the same time, “Ellinor, why are you telling me all this?”
Ellinor replied, “No specific reason. I just wanted to share my observations of the Howard family. Oh, and Mr. McNeil never intended to marry his current wife. The two children they have were conceived through medical intervention.”
Marlinie’s eyes trembled.
Conceived through medical intervention?
After sharing these details, Ellinor started eating her breakfast and didn’t say anything more.
She didn’t want to speak on behalf of the Howard family or her absent biological father. She was just stating what she knew.
She didn’t want to bring it up with her mother, but after Bertha’s suggestion, she hoped her mother could find peace in her later years.
After finishing breakfast and discussing some other matters, Ellinor picked up Baber to return to his hospital room.
It was time for the nurse to check on Baber.
Knowing the situation, Marlinie didn’t delay her daughter, allowing her to accompany the child for the check-up.
Once Ellinor left, Marlinie started contemplating the words her daughter had shared.
Mr. McNeil had filled his garden with Moonlights? They were her favorite flower but weren’t suitable for the city’s climate. How could he have managed to make them bloom in such weather?
Bertha saw a positive change in Marlinie’s mood and smiled with relief.
Thankfully, Ellinor was smart and considerate.
Stepping out of her mother’s hospital room with Baber in her arms, Ellinor encountered a figure she hadn’t seen in a long while.
“Ellinor, Mr. Blanchet asked me to stay with you and young master Baber.” Collin approached respectfully and efficiently.
He was still as reliable as he was years ago, Theo’s most trusted aid.
However, Collin disappeared with Theo three years ago, and Ellinor thought he had been killed by Sophia’s men!
Seeing Collin again, Ellinor was both surprised and delighted, asking, “Collin, where have you been these years?”
Collin replied, “Thanks to Mr. Blanchet, I was trained in many advanced skills years ago. Sophia’s men thought I was still useful and spared my life. They kept me in a tech company in M State, forcing me to work for them. I was under surveillance 24/7. Mr. Blanchet just sent someone to rescue me.”
Ellinor patted his shoulder, “I’m glad you’re back! You’ve been through a lot, haven’t you?”
