Chapter 1853
Sophia was raising hell inside the barred cell. She was shouting and kicking at the metal door, causing quite a stir.
The officer, who had led Thaddeus and his family there, was frowning. “Ever since we put her in there, she hasn’t stopped. She’s been hurling abuse at my colleagues non-stop.”
Thaddeus’s face was clouded over, and his expression was darker than ever.
Bertha apologized to the officer, feeling extremely embarrassed and guilty for causing them this much trouble.
The officer didn’t say anything. He just gestured for them to go ahead and see Sophia.
Sophia was in the midst of another frenzy and was frantically kicking at the cell door, but once she saw her father’s figure, her eyes lit up instantly. “Dad! You’re finally here! Hurry! Get them to let me out; it’s cold and damp in here. It’s no place for a human being!”
Thaddeus felt a wave of disappointment and helplessness when he realized that his daughter felt no remorse. “Sophia, do you know what you’ve done? Do you think you can just walk away from this?”
Sophia put on a pitiful face. “Dad, I know you can find a way to get me out! Hurry up! Let’s talk about everything else after I’m out!”
Thaddeus frowned deeply, and his voice became grim. “You’re not getting out, Sophia. Prepare to face your punishment in there.”
Sophia was taken aback. “What do you mean? Dad, are you saying you’re not going to help me? You’re my father; how can you abandon me?!”
Thaddeus felt a mix of anger and helplessness as he looked at her. “Even as your father, I can’t cover up your mistakes time and again. You’re not a child anymore. It’s time you paid for your actions.”
Realizing that her father wasn’t just trying to scare her but was seriously considering abandoning her, Sophia’s anger flared. She glared at her father through clenched teeth. “You… You’re betraying me too! You old bastard! You’re betraying me?! It’s all because of them, right?! It must be that wretched Bertha stirring things up! You’re abandoning me for her and her daughter, aren’t you?!”
She pointed accusingly at Bertha and Lea, who were standing nearby. If it weren’t for the bars separating them, she would have lunged at them and strangled them on the
spot.
Thaddeus’ disappointment turned into anger. He was aggravated by Sophia’s refusal to take responsibility for her actions and her attempt to blame others. “Enough! This has nothing to do with Bertha or Lea! You made a mistake, and now you must face the consequences! What you’re going through now is your own doing! How could you even think of throwing acid at someone?!”
“Ha! That’s rich coming from you, Dad! Over the years, what have I done without your help? If anyone deserves retribution, it’s you! Hahaha!” Sophia had completely lost it. She spoke without any restraint. She only cared about venting her own frustration
Thaddeus was taken aback. “You…”
Sophia’s manic laughter filled the room. “What?! Like father, like daughter, right? I’ve learned from the best, Dad! Hahaha! You’re the one who taught me never to be at a disadvantage in front of anyone! You’re the one who told me that you’d get me anything I wanted! You’re the one who said it!
Why are you going back on your word now?! Why are you not helping me when I say I want Theo?! Huh?! I just want Theo! I just want him! Is that too much to ask?! Can’t you even fulfill this tiny wish of mine?! Were all those promises you made just hot air?!”
