The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 1850

Chapter 1850

Bertha was incredibly embarrassed and began apologizing profusely on behalf of her husband. “Ellinor, I know this isn’t right, but I hope you can cut us some slack. He only messed up because he was too protective of our daughter. I promise he’ll make things right with you!”

After watching his wife bow her head to a girl as young as Ellinor, Thaddeus was about to fire back. However, he was stopped by a tug at his hand from his younger daughter, leading him to begrudgingly close his mouth.

Ellinor was not surprised. Her face remained calm, but a smile of unknown meaning played on her lips.

“Bertha, there’s a saying I know, but I’m not sure you’ve heard it before.”

Bertha looked a bit lost. “What is it?”

Ellinor’s gaze suddenly hardened. “If saying sorry was enough, then what do we need police for?”

Bertha, caught off guard, stammered, “Err…”

Ellinor continued, “Bertha, I know you’re my mom’s best friend, and you’ve taken good care of her over the years. But let’s not mix things up. Your friendship with my mom is something I respect and will repay with all my heart. But I can never forgive your husband!

You love your husband, and I love mine. Even though my husband is still standing by my side today, it doesn’t mean that the harm your husband did to him can be simply erased!

To my knowledge, my husband was in a wheelchair because your husband brutalized him by breaking his legs, right? The physical pain he endured can’t just be forgotten!

And your eldest daughter used underhand means to control my husband and one of our sons! The emotional trauma they suffered is even greater!

All these things are crystal clear to me, and just because you’re my mom’s best friend doesn’t mean I have to forgive your husband. I can’t do it, and I won’t let my husband swallow his anger out of respect for me.”

Bertha was speechless. She witnessed what Theo had been through for the past three years. She couldn’t dismiss the harm her husband had inflicted.

“Ellinor, I just hope you can give him a chance to make it up to you

Ellinor sneered. “Sorry, we don’t need any compensation!”

Unable to reason with Ellinor, Bertha turned her gaze to Marlinie. Marlinie met her eyes, and her gaze flickered, but, ultimately, she looked away.

If it had been her own issue, she might have let it slide for Bertha’s sake.

But it was her daughter and the man her daughter loved who had been wronged. She didn’t want to impose her moral values on her daughter.

Over the years, she had let down her daughter too much. She didn’t want to add more burdens to her after finally being reunited.

So, sorry, Bertha.

Bertha understood what Marlinie was feeling after noticing that she was avoiding her gaze. She sighed in resignation and accepted her fate.

“Alright, I understand your feelings. Let’s leave it at that. Let’s pretend I never brought this up. Have some food with your mom and Mr. Blanchet while it’s still hot. It won’t taste good once it cools down.”

Ellinor nodded slightly. “Thank you for understanding, Bertha.”

After seeing this, Thaddeus felt that his apology was in vain, so he turned to leave.

Lea chased after him and tugged at his hand. “Dad, where are you going?”
