Chapter 1791
In a matter of moments, the injured Marlinie was carried down by a few men clad in black, with Bertha and Lea anxiously trailing behind.
“Where’s the ambulance?!” Bertha asked in a rush.
The leader of the men in black hurriedly stepped up and replied respectfully, “Ma’am, the ambulance has been called. The nearest hospital will be sending a vehicle over in a few minutes. Please try to stay calm.”
How could she stay calm? Marlinie was losing consciousness due to excessive blood loss.
However, Bertha knew that stressing wouldn’t help. She nodded as she anxiously monitored Marlinie’s condition.
The leader of the men in black was also on high alert. They checked Bertha and Lea for any injuries, and upon finding none, he asked again, “Are you and the young miss uninjured, ma’am?”
“We’re fine.” Bertha replied. “But where is that ambulance? Can’t you take her to the hospital in your car?”
The leader of the men in black wisely replied, “Ma’am, we could certainly take your friend to the hospital, but the ambulance might be faster. Traffic can be a problem at this time of day, but an ambulance with its siren on will be given the right of way. Plus, there will be medical staff on board to tend to your friend immediately.”
Bertha knew he was right, but she was just so worried.
Just then, two of the men in black brought Tracy and Sheila back.
“Ma’am, these two attempted to escape during the chaos. We’ve managed to apprehend them.” They reported.
Bertha glanced at Tracy and her daughter but had no time to deal with them at the moment. She waved them off for now.
However, Lea turned around from Marlinie’s side and glared at Tracy and Sheila. Her eyes were red with a blazing fury, just like her father.
While pointing at the two of them, the little girl cried out in a mix of sadness, worry, and anger. “They did it! They hurt my Ms. Marlinie! They bullied us! This woman even pushed me! Beat them up! I want them beaten up!”
“You dare lay hands on our young miss?!”
The leader of the men in black frowned at the news and ordered his men to deliver some punishments.
They understood his command immediately and forced Tracy and Sheila to kneel before Lea.
Lea showed no mercy. She started by slapping their faces and then pummeled them with her small fists.
Tracy and Sheila screamed in pain, but they couldn’t fight back.
“What are you doing?! Who do you think you are?! This is our house! You can’t assault us in our own home! That’s against the law, you know?”
“Exactly! Let us go! Let us go!”
The men in black paid no heed to their protests. They were there to follow Lea’s orders.
Lea wasn’t finished. She wanted to vent all her anger on these despicable women before the ambulance arrived.
“You’re worried about breaking the law? What about when you locked us up and attacked us with a knife? Weren’t you worried about breaking the law then? Let me tell you this, if anything happens to Ms. Marlinie, I won’t let you ever live in peace! You won’t be walking out of here alive!”
After hearing the threats of the little girl they had initially dismissed, Tracy and Sheila began to feel a genuine sense of fear. This was no empty threat. The girl meant every word she said.
