“Really, Dad?”
Marcus gave his son a gentle yet firm look. “Yes, really.”
With a blink of his eyes, Tristan squinted and blinked again.
“Dad, I think I’m hallucinating. I’ve missed Ellinor so much that I think I see her here.”
After hearing his son say this, Marcus paused and followed his son’s incredulous gaze. Suddenly, his pupils contracted.
His son was not mistaken. It wasn’t an illusion; it was her.
Ellinor was standing over there talking with a man while admiring the scenery. They were neither too close nor too far apart, and their banter hinted at a deep familiarity.
Marcus recognized him from his regained memories. It was Bartlett.
The guy had once had designs on Ellinor, and now he was trying to take advantage of her while he was away.
Marcus’s eyes turned cold in an instant, and he began emanating a chilling aura.
“Marcus, Tristan, what are you two looking at? Do you want some water?”
Sophia came over with two bottles of mineral water for them. After hearing Sophia’s voice, Marcus forced himself to look away and returned to his usual cold and aloof demeanor.
He took the water that Sophia handed him, unscrewed the cap, and drank a few hearty gulps. “Thanks.”
Sophia smiled and opened the remaining bottle. “Here, Tristan, let Mom give you some water.”
Tristan was intently looking at Ellinor, and Sophia’s interruption irked him. “I don’t want water. Leave me alone!”
“Tristan, Mom just wants you to drink some water. If you don’t, you’ll get sick.” Sophia tried to appear motherly in front of Marcus.
But Tristán remained unappreciative and snorted haughtily at Sophia. “I don’t want water. Stop bothering me!”
“You child!” Sophia looked helplessly at Marcus. “Marcus, look at him.”
Marcus simply said, “If he won’t drink, then leave him alone. You drink it.”
Sophia had expected Marcus to scold their son for her, but all she got was this nonchalant dismissal. She was frustrated, but there was nothing she could do, so she swallowed her annoyance and decided to deal with it later.
She lifted the water bottle to her mouth and drank.
Sophia’s gaze was originally wandering over the beautiful scenery, but unexpectedly, she spotted that loathsome woman, Ellinor.
She almost spat out the mouthful of water she was drinking.
How could Ellinor be here? What a small world!
Oh no! Would Marcus remember something if he saw Ellinor? Sophia was extremely worried and quickly checked Marcus’s reaction.
However, Marcus was just casually drinking water and enjoying the beautiful scenery around him. His gaze lingered on Ellinor for a moment, but he didn’t show any special reaction.
After seeing this, Sophia finally breathed a sigh of relief. Marcus probably wouldn’t remember anything about Ellinor.
But what if Ellinor saw Marcus and tried to snatch him away? That woman was always so aggressive.
With this thought, Sophia wanted to hurry and steer Marcus away from here, but it was already too late.
