Chapter 1705
Baber, holding the kite, approached Ellinor’s room and gave the door a gentle knock.
After a brief wait at the door, it was Adrian who came to let him in.
Adrian, upon laying eyes on the kite, snatched it eagerly away from Baber. “Finally, it’s back! We need to keep this safe for our next visit to the park. I’ll be the coolest kid there!”
From within the room came the sound of Layla retching, clearly expressing her distaste for her twin brother’s antics.
After stepping into the room, Baber glanced around but didn’t see Ellinor. He asked, “Where’s Mom?”
Adrian, having already run off with the kite in search of a place to stash it, didn’t respond.
Layla, who was lounging on the couch and snacking, answered him instead. “Mom’s taking a shower. She said she’s feeling hot and thought a bath would cool her off.”
“Ah.” Baber nodded, then took a seat next to his sister to patiently wait for their mother to finish her bath.
Baber spotted his sister eating a snack that they both loved, causing his mouth to begin to water. After noticing another pack of the same snack on the coffee table, he reached over to grab it.
But before his hand could even touch it, Adrian swooped in and nabbed it.
Having put away the kite, Adrian had dashed back, grabbed a pack of snacks, and ran off to the balcony to play with his paper airplane.
Baber’s hand awkwardly hung in the air as he glanced around to see no more packs of snacks.
There were only two packs?
Where was his?
At that moment, Ellinor had just finished her shower. Wrapped in a towel, she stood in front of the bathroom mirror, eyeing the marks on her neck and collarbone that were left by that man as her expression grew complex.
That man must have done it on purpose.
He wanted to embarrass her in front of her family upon her return.
How despicable! Hmph!
After drying off and dressing up in clean clothes, Ellinor took out some concealer and applied it to her neck to hide the embarrassing marks.
She had to cover them up or else the children would notice, and she wouldn’t know how to explain.
Especially that inquisitive Layla, who was not easily fooled.
Once she was ready, Ellinor stepped out of the bathroom to see Layla and Adrian munching on snacks, while Baber just sat quietly on the side without saying a word.
Seeing this, Ellinor’s gaze hardened. “Who said you two could start eating? There were only two packs left. Didn’t Mom say we would share them equally
when she came out?”
Layla sucked on her fingers nonchalantly. “Mom, you took too long. I’ve already finished mine. Adrian still has his, so he can share with Baber.”
