The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 1697

Chapter 1697

Thaddeus pointed in disgust towards a certain room. “Hurry up! Get that little mischief out of here! He’s been here since morning and hasn’t uttered a single word. He doesn’t answer if he wants to eat or drink. He just stares at me and keeps crying for his dad. It was so annoying that I locked him up in there.”

Sophia couldn’t help but voice out her frustration. “Dad! How could you lock a child in a room all by himself?”

Unfazed, Thaddeus replied, “What else could I do? He doesn’t answer when asked if he’s hungry or thirsty; he just cries! I’m already being nice not to smack him; he’s not even my own grandson.”

Sophia, afraid that Marcus might hear her father, signaled him to lower his voice.

“Dad, do you want me to have a good relationship with Marcus or not? I could soon give you a grandson of your own. Please don’t cause any more trouble.”

Thaddeus, already overwhelmed with his own issues, waved her off. “Fine, fine! Just take the kid and leave me alone. I’ll keep my mouth shut.”

This brought some solace to Sophia. She unlocked the room where the small boy, Tristan, was crying his eyes out to the point they were swollen like peaches. He was sitting on the floor, nervously wiping away his tears.

On hearing the door, the boy quickly stood up and ran out like a rocket.

Sophia tried to stop him but could not even touch him. Tristan had already sprinted away.

Thankfully, Marcus was at the suite’s door; he wouldn’t let Tristán run around wildly.

Sophia turned around to bid her father goodbye. “Dad, rest well. Marcus and I will take the kid back to our room. Call me if you need anything.”

Looking stern, Thaddeus replied, “Off you go.”

Even though Sophia knew her father was in a bad mood, she didn’t have the energy to comfort him. Now, she had to get back to Marcus and Tristan and explain why Tristan had been crying, or else Marcus’s resentment towards her and her father would grow.

As she exited her father’s suite, she saw that Marcus and Tristan had already left without waiting for her.

Feeling somewhat disappointed, she followed them silently.

“Marcus, Tristan was crying at my dad’s place because he was asking for us. That’s why his eyes are so swollen.”

Marcus responded in a very indifferent tone. “Well, we are grateful that your father took time out of his busy schedule to look after our son.”

Sophia sensed the sarcasm in Marcus’ tone, but she didn’t know what to say in response.

Back in their suite, Marcus took Tristan to his room and shut the door.

The closed door signified a refusal to communicate.

Sophia understood this well. She knocked on the door and asked, “Marcus, I know you’re upset, but you still need to eat. What would you like for lunch? I can make it for you.”

From inside the room, Marcus’s cold voice echoed. “Don’t bother!”

“Even if you’re not hungry, Tristan needs to eat. He barely had breakfast and has been crying for a long time. What if he gets sick from hunger?” Sophia said, trying to please him by showing concern for ‘their’ child.

There was silence from the room for a half minute before Marcus’ emotionless voice rang out. “Just make something. You don’t need to ask me.”
