The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 1689

Chapter 1689

1s it locked?” Dr. Tam walked over and gave the door a try. Sure enough, it was locked.

“That’s strange “He muttered. This storage closet is never locked. We usually just pile all our junk in here. Who would’ve locked it?”

Sophia was more certain than ever that she hadn’t been mistaken. Someone had been eavesdropping on her conversation with Dr. Tam and had darted into the storage closet when they’d emerged.

“Dr. Tam,” she said, “I’ll stay here while you get the key. We need to make sure there’s no one in there.”

Dr. Tam thought it was odd that the closet was locked, but he didn’t think anyone was hiding inside. Perhaps one of the nurses had locked it after dumping some useless stuff in there. Still, seeing Sophia’s concern, he agreed to fetch the key.

Sophia stood guard at the door with her arms folded and her eyes glued to the closet. She was determined not to let anyone slip away this time.

Meanwhile, inside the closet.

“What do we do now?” Ida asked Byran in a hushed whisper.

Byran shrugged. “What can we do? There’s no place to hide in here. I’m too big to go unnoticed. Rather than wait for Sophia to discover us, we should confront her directly. We need to know what she and the doctor were talking about.”

As he spoke, Byran moved towards the door, ready to confront Sophia head-on.

Ida was hesitant. “Hold on. Let’s not rush into anything.”

Byran turned back. “We don’t have any other choice. The doctor is coming with the key. Once he opens the door, there’s no way we can explain our presence here. Sophia will never believe we were just passing by and overheard nothing.”

After looking around, all they could see were stacks of medical waste. There was nowhere to hide.

Just as they were about to give in to the inevitable, they heard the key being inserted into the lock. The door was about to open.

Ida took a deep breath, preparing to face the impending situation. Suddenly, she felt a tug at her arm.

Before they knew it, they were both pulled into a small, pitch-black space.

They were about to panic when they heard Dr. Tam and Sophia’s voices from outside.

“Ms. Sophia, there’s no one in here. See?” Dr. Tam said.

Sophia carefully inspected the closet and found no one. But she was still suspicious. “Why would a closet that’s usually unlocked be locked? Don’t you find that strange, Dr. Tam?” “Ms. Sophia, although this closet is rarely used, some nurses occasionally dump medical waste here. It’s possible that one of them locked it by accident. Don’t worry too much about it.”

Sophia frowned. She was not convinced by Dr. Tam’s explanation. “Dr. Tam, is there a security camera in this hallway? If there is, I want to see the footage now. You know I’m a bit of a worrywart, and I have compulsive tendencies. If I don’t confirm that my suspicions are unfounded, I won’t be able to sleep tonight.”/
