The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 1660

Chapter 1660

Veronica placated Marissa with a few polite remarks before hastily retreating to her room, afraid her unease would give her away.

Once inside, she heaved a sigh of relief. Patting her chest to calm her racing heart, she saw the cell phone on the bedside table blinking. She crossed the room in quick strides to answer the call, “Hello, Moran?”

The man on the other end of the line had a gentle tone. “Why did it take you so long to answer? I called you twice already!”

Veronica blushed, replying, “I was chatting with Ellinor and didn’t have my phone with me. Sorry about that. I should have messaged you!”

Moran lovingly responded, “There’s no need to apologize. Don’t be so formal with me. If you do this again, I might actually get upset!”

Veronica chuckled sweetly, “I see, Moran. I’ll try not to be too formal with you.”

“Hmm, you said you were talking to Ellinor? Isn’t it a bit late for that? Doesn’t she need to put the kids to bed?” Moran asked with concern.

Veronica replied, “The kids are already asleep. I went to talk to her about my brother.”

Moran seemed surprised. “Theo? Has there been any news about him?”

“Yes, I saw him today!”

“Really? Didn’t you ask where he’s been for the past three years and why he hasn’t come home?”

Veronica sighed in frustration, “No, the circumstances didn’t allow for it. I didn’t get a chance to speak with him and I heard he might have amnesia!”

Moran exclaimed, “What? Amnesia? That’s…”

“Isn’t Ellinor’s life just too hard, Moran? She finally found Theo, and he doesn’t even remember her…”

“It really is tough for her.”

Sensing regret in Moran’s voice, Veronica felt a pinch of discomfort, “Moran, do you still have feelings for Ellinor?”

Moran paused, and when he spoke again, his voice was a bit heavier, “If I still had feelings for her, what would that make us, Veronica? Do you think I’m a two-timer?”

Veronica quickly shook her head, “No, no… I…I just felt that you still care about her, and I was worried you haven’t moved on.”

Moran reassured her, “I once had feelings for her, and I do respect her, but there’s nothing more than that. If I hadn’t moved on, I wouldn’t have pursued you, Veronica. You’re the most important girl to me now. I care about you. That’s the reason why I care about the things that bother you. I hope your family and friends are all doing well, so you can be happy.”

Veronica felt a pang in her heart, touched by Moran’s words. “Moran, thank you…”

“Hmm? Being formal again?”

“Uh… I forgot! I…”

Moran interrupted, “Alright, I won’t tease you anymore! So, where is your brother now, and is there anything I can do to help?”

Veronica said, “He’s with a wicked woman! I don’t know what Ellinor’s plan is. She doesn’t want me to get involved, to avoid alerting the enemy. She says she has a plan.”

“She was till as stubborn as ever, I see.”

“Yes, that’s why I’m so worried about her.”

“Don’t worry. Whatever happens, I’ll be here to help you figure it out!”
