The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 1640

Chapter 1640

Ellinor looked at Lea with a sense of intrigue. “Hmm? What are you talking about? What’s different?”

Lea’s face was a mix of surprise and admiration. “Marcus’ attitude towards you is totally different from the way he treats Sophia.”

This topic seemed to pique Ellinor’s interest. She propped her cheek on her hand and raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Really? How so? Do tell, I’m listening.”

Marcus felt like slamming his fist on the table. If only he could stand up, he’d have scooped up this little chatterbox and sent her on her way.

“Ellinor, you…”

“Shh!” Ellinor held a finger up to her lips, signaling for Marcus to hush up and be patient. She then turned her attention back to Lea. “Go on. Continue with what you were saying.”

Lea was more than happy to chat with Ellinor and obediently continued. “Marcus seems very concerned and attentive towards you, while he’s quite indifferent to Sophia. He hardly ever initiates conversation with her, and his responses to her are quite cold. I don’t know why she insists on keeping a man who clearly doesn’t love her around.”

Ellinor seemed satisfied with this answer. “Indeed! Why does she keep a man who doesn’t love her around? Does she enjoy being the one always making the effort?”

Lea shrugged. “Who knows?! It’s just self-sabotaging, if you ask me.”

Ellinor chuckled. “She’s your sister, yet it seems like you despise her more than I do.”

The mere mention of Sophia made Lea feel repulsed. She made no effort to hide her disdain. “Yes, Lreally can’t stand her! Every time our father loses his temper, it’s because of her. Every time our parents argue, it’s due to her instigating. Ever since I was little, I’ve wondered how such a vile person like her could actually exist! It’s embarrassing having her as a sister!

Ellinor, I wish you were my sister.”

A thin smile appeared on Ellinor’s face. “You’re quite young, yet you see things so clearly. You even noticed Sophia’s instigating.”

Lea sighed. “I learned it the hard way. My parents used to argue because of Sophia all the time. Four years ago, my mom almost died in a car accident, and you saved her. Sophia caused that entire incident. She caused my mom to be falsely accused and made us run away from home.”

Upon hearing this, the smile faded from Ellinor’s face, leaving her in a daze.

Suddenly, she realized her childhood experiences were quite similar to those of this little girl named Lea.

Many years ago, her mother was also falsely accused, which led her to run away from home with her.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have the luck Lea had. Unlike her, she was never found and brought back home by her father.

Thaddeus might be one way or another towards outsiders, but he was responsible when it came to his wife and daughter. Her own father, back then, didn’t even try to find her mother. He was less responsible than Thaddeus.

How ironic!

As she reminisced about her past, a small hand waved in front of her. “Ellinor, what are you thinking about? Why aren’t you talking?”, Ellinor shook her head. “Nothing. Thanks for letting me know he’s here; otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to have this conversation.”

With that, she looked at Marcus across the table with a gentle and serene smile playing on her lips.

Marcus, on the other hand, maintained a stoic expression throughout, trying to urge her to leave with his gaze.

Ellinor’s sincere remark left Lea slightly embarrassed. “I’m sorry, Ellinor. It’s because of our family that you and Marcus were separated for so long, I want to apologize on behalf of my father.

Ellinor, I know you might resent my father, but I still want to speak up for him.

My father may have a terrible temper, but he’s not a bad person at heart. He was pushed to the edge by Sophia’s victim play, which is why he acted so aggressively.”
