Chapter 1639
Ellinor sat across from him, resting her head on her hand as she looked at him dreamily. ‘Man, who were you just texting? It wasn’t me, was it?”
Marcus snapped out of his thoughts and quickly glanced upstairs to make sure Sophia and her father hadn’t come down yet. His nerves relaxed a bit, and he looked back at Ellinor. He was in no mood for banter. “Quit fooling around. You and Tristan need to leave now. You can’t let Sophia’s father see you. Go!”
Ellinor suppressed a smile. “What’s there to be afraid of?”
Her nonchalant attitude made Marcus a bit anxious. “I’m not joking with you right now!”
Ellinor smiled. “I know. Don’t worry; I have it under control.”
Under control?
What control?!
If she really had it under control, she wouldn’t be here!
While Ellinor and Marcus were talking, Tristan, who had come down with Ellinor, was sizing up Adrian, who was sitting next to Marcus.
How strange!
It was like looking in a mirror.
Adrian and Tristan were seeing each other face-to-face for the first time, and they couldn’t believe how much they looked alike.
Lea was dumbfounded for a moment and then looked at Ellinor with a mix of respect and curiosity. “Madam, why did you come down? My parents just went upstairs to find you. Did you see them?”
Ellinor looked at Lea and shook her head. “No. Didn’t I tell you that your parents don’t need to thank me?”
Lea insisted. “Madam, they owe you their lives. My mom really wants to thank you in person. Plus, they didn’t believe me when I said I’d found you. I need to prove I really did.”
Ellinor felt helpless at Lea’s persistence, but she wouldn’t cooperate.
At first, she didn’t know that the woman she had helped was Thaddeus’s wife, and she didn’t want to meet her.
Now that she knew, she wanted to meet her even less.
Honestly, she somewhat regretted saving Thaddeus’ wife.
Thaddeus, for his own daughter’s desire, didn’t hesitate to build his daughter’s happiness on other people’s pain, separating her and Theo for over three years. He even caused Theo to lose his memory and completely forget her!
People like Thaddeus should know what it was like to lose a loved one..
But on second thought, Thaddeus’s wife and young daughter were innocent, and she shouldn’t take out her anger on them.
Seeing that she was still sitting there calmly, Marcus guessed that Thaddeus and Sophia would soon come downstairs when they couldn’t find their savior upstairs, so he urged her to go. “Won’t you leave?”
Ellinor raised an eyebrow. “Why should I leave?”
Marcus frowned. “Do you really want them to see you and the kid? I can’t stand up right now. If anything unpredictable happens, I won’t be able to do anything. Please don’t make me worry.”
Ellinor remained unhurried. She picked up his glass and took a slow sip of water, then put the glass back next to him. “Like I said, I have it under control. You don’t need to worry. You can’t protect me now, but I can protect you.”
Marcus deeply furrowed his brows and looked upstairs again. “They’ll be down any minute!”
Ellinor hummed in acknowledgment. “So what if they come down? I can still leave when they do.”
You…
Lea looked at Ellinor, then at Marcus, like she had discovered something unbellevable. Her bright eyes widened as she exclaimed, “Wow! It really is different!”
