The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 1609

Chapter 1609

Chase narrowed his eyes. “I don’t think she’s mad at you, but rather at me.”

Belinda chose not to push further and followed Chase down the mountain trail.

By the time they got back, it was already close to noon. The bungee jumping spot was miles away from the city, and they made no delays on their return.

Upon entering, they found Ida and Byran at the kitchen, sipping coffee and chit-chatting, with no sign of Ellinor.

Chase, hand in hand with Belinda, asked, “Where’s the boss?”

Ida, cradling her coffee mug, jerked her thumb towards the couch.

Glancing over, they saw Ellinor lying on the couch with her eyes closed, seemingly asleep.

“Where on Earth were you two?” Byran teased. “My sister’s been waiting for you so long that she fell asleep.”

Belinda blushed. “Ah… we… we went to a tourist spot. It was a bit far, which is why we’re late.”

Ignoring Byran’s comment, Chase moved lightly towards Ellinor, picking up a throw from the couch to cover her.

His actions were gentle and respectful, devoid of any inappropriate implications.

Still, Ellinor was stirred awake, opening her eyes sharply.

Facing Ellinor, Chase offered a cautious smile. “Boss, don’t catch a cold.”

Ellinor rolled her eyes at him, brushed him off, and sat up.

Chase backed off a few steps, standing beside Belinda, ready to face the music.

With a lazy flick of her eyes, Ellinor looked at them. “So, how far along are you two?”

Belinda felt a strange guilt wash over her. It was as if she were facing her stern uncle creating a pressure she couldn’t explain.

“Ellinor, I…”

Ellinor eyed the flustered and blushing Belinda, patting the spot beside her. “Belinda, come sit here. I’m not asking you.”

Belinda was surprised for a moment, but she quickly took the offered spot, feeling very relieved.

She had thought Ellinor was mad at her too, which scared her to death.

Chase looked at Belinda, who had left him behind, pulled a wry smile, and sighed before saying, “Boss, haven’t you seen the wedding invitation? We’re getting married. The date’s already set.”

!

Ellinor gave him a stern look. “Have you got the marriage certificate?”

Chase smiled. “We have.”

Ellinor crossed her arms. “Did you discuss this with anyone?”

Chase, now feeling a bit ashamed, lowered his head. “Boss, I apologize. I just thought why wait? So we got the certificate and set the wedding date. I didn’t want to risk losing my girlfriend again. Boss, please understand!”

Belinda’s face turned even redder. She felt like he was way out of line, especially in front of Ellinor.

Ellinor huffed. “It seems to me that what you’re really afraid of is me. Are you afraid that I might interfere?”

Chase laughed. “So, you are self-aware! After all, instead of helping me, you’ve been badmouthing me to Belinda, It was hard enough to win her over, so I was genuinely afraid of losing her again.”

Ellinor gave him a disparaging look.

“Wasn’t I just stating facts? Haven’t you been flippant about relationships in the past? You treated them all like games. And you have the audacity to blame me for telling Belinda the truth?
