Chapter 1594
Thaddeus didn’t want to keep talking about this past event with his daughter. He waved his hand to interrupt her. “Enough! I just want you two to stop quarreling. You two are my only daughters; I don’t want to see any discord between you two.”
Sophia reluctantly nodded. “Alright. I understand how you feel, Dad. I won’t be mad at my sister anymore, and I’ll try to get along with her.”
Thaddeus patted Sophia’s shoulder with relief. “That’s my girl!”
Sophia suppressed her resentment. She thought to herself that once she successfully inherited all her father’s wealth, she would settle the scores with her stepmother and sister.
By the time they reached the hotel, it was already over an hour later.
Thaddeus checked into the same hotel as his daughter Sophia. After ordering his men to take care of their luggage, he went with his wife and younger daughter to Sophia’s suite to see his
son-in-law.
When Marcus saw Thaddeus, he was calm and nodded slightly. “Father, welcome.”
Thaddeus snorted disapprovingly with his hands behind his back. “So you remember I’m your father? You didn’t even go to the airport with Sophia to pick us up!”
“I apologize. I wasn’t feeling well. Please forgive me, Father.”
Thaddeus looked at his son-in-law’s legs, which were in a wheelchair, and grew more annoyed.
Sophia didn’t want her father to blame Marcus. She tugged at her father’s arm and then walked over to her man.
As she got closer, she noticed that Marcus’s forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat.
“Marcus, why are you sweating so much?”
Sophia was a bit worried and touched his forehead. “Oh my! Your forehead is hot. Are you sick? Do you have a fever?”
Marcus shook his head lightly and gently pushed Sophia’s hand away. “It’s nothing. It’s just a little headache.”
He could only say that. He couldn’t tell the truth that he had been secretly doing physical therapy while she was out and hadn’t had time to wash off his sweat.
“Your headache must be because of the fever. Marcus, go back to your room and rest. I’ll call a doctor to come over and check on you.” Sophia was so worried that she didn’t even haye time to say goodbye to her father. She quickly pushed Marcus back to their room, trying to get him to lie down for a while.
Thaddeus watched his daughter worry over Marcus and felt frustrated. “Hmph, he’s such a weakling. If I had known, I would have been gentler back then and left him with one leg. Sophia wouldn’t have to suffer with such a useless man.”
Bertha sighed and held Thaddeus’s arm. “Let it be. He doesn’t want to be like this either. Let’s go back to our room and let Sophia and Marcus rest.”
Thaddeus sighed and followed his wife out.
Lea also wanted to leave with her parents, but as she was about to turn around, she noticed Adrian, who was watching them from not far away. She recognized the boy but thought he was Tristan.
So she walked over and extended a hand to Adrian. “Shall we go? Let’s hang out together.”
Adrian didn’t know Lea and shook his head.
Lea frowned at Adrian. “Don’t you remember me? I’m your aunt.”
Sophia didn’t like to let Tristan meet people, so she rarely had the chance to see him. It wasn’t surprising that Tristan didn’t recognize her/
Adrian blinked. “…Aunt?”
Lea naturally assumed Adrian was addressing her and nodded. “Let’s go! I brought you a present this time. It’s a Mechanical Hero toy from the 744 series. You’ll love it!”
