Chapter 1556
Sophia maintained her insincere smile. “But don’t you think you could let your mom hold you a bit? You’ve changed so much, it’s like you’re not my Tristan anymore.”
Adrian only felt guilt towards those he cared about. As for Sophia, he didn’t feel guilty at all, just annoyed.
Sophia was clearly trying to fish for information, all the while acting like she was so sweet and approachable. How hypocritical!
Adrian wasn’t flustered at all and retorted with an air of arrogance. “I’ve grown up now. I don’t like being held by women; is that so strange? Hmph!”
Sophia leaned closer to him as her gaze turned stern. “Are you really my Tristan? Lying children have to swallow a thousand needles, you know.”
Adrian already disliked Sophia, and seeing her act this way just made her seem like a wicked old witch to him.
“You gave birth to me. Can’t you tell if I’m your child? Unless I’m not your son!”
His response left Sophia speechless.
“Are you going to call room service for food or not? If not, I’m going to find Dad!” Adrian urged her impatiently.
Sophia snapped back to reality, dropping her stern gaze and forcing a smile. “I’m calling right now. Just hang on.”
Adrian snorted. “Hurry up. I’m starving!”
Sophia took a deep breath, suppressing her frustration.
Just wait and see. One day she would teach this brat a lesson!
She guessed that he might be enjoying himself here, not having to attend preschool and having a ton of toys to play with, so he decided to stay here and take advantage of them.
The boy himself probably didn’t understand his true relationship with Marcus and likely hadn’t revealed anything to him, in fear of being sent back if discovered.
Fine, she’d let it slide for now. What good could possibly come from something birthed by Ellinor?!
While Ellinor was busy at work at the Blanchet Corporation, Balfour suddenly came to find her.
However, he didn’t come up but called her from his car parked outside the building.
“Ellinor, I’m outside the Blanchet Corporation. Come down for a moment; I need to talk to you.”
Normally, when Balfour spoke with such brevity and seriousness, it meant that something was really up.
Ellinor put down the unfinished documents and went out.
When she reached the ground floor, the sun was shining brightly.
Quinton, the driver, respectfully opened the car door for her. After thanking him, Ellinor got into the car.
Balfour was sitting in the car with his eyes closed, only opening them slowly when he heard her get in. He glanced at his sister.
“Did I interrupt your work?”
Ellinor shrugged. “Whether you did or not, you’ve already interrupted me. Mr. Howard, what’s up?”
Balfour’s gaze was complex and deep. “Do you remember the painting I gave you last time?”
Ellinor’s eyes sparkled as she nodded instantly. “Of course I remember! You said it might have been recently painted by Lady Lotus. When you got it, the paint was still fresh!”
“Right, that painting. My friend contacted me today, saying that her art teacher has returned from her painting trip.” Balfour said gravely.
Ellinor’s pupils trembled slightly. “Does that mean we can meet Lady Lotus now?”
