Chapter 1552
“Actually, there’s no need…”
Before Belinda could even finish her sentence, Chase was already rising from his seat, circling around the table to take her hand. “Let’s go.”
“Eh? Where to?” Belinda asked, surprised by his sudden initiative.
Chase simply smiled. “To pay your folks a visit.”
“What?!” Belinda was taken aback. Was this guy not ashamed at all?
The Blanchet Residence.
Ellinor managed to get a message to a hidden number and received a discreet reply.
“She has no idea that I know what’s going on. I can play along for a while longer, but these next few days, I need you to take care of my boy. Don’t let me down again!”
Minutes later, she received a reply. “He’s my son too. You have my word. I’ll leave Tristan to you for now.”
After sending the message, Marcus swiftly deleted all traces of it from his phone and then turned his attention to the computer screen.
His secret email account had a new message from a physiotherapist, filled with detailed instructions for rehab and various precautions.
Marcus read through the email quickly, memorizing the instructions before closing his laptop.
He cast a gentle glance at his son, Adrian, who was napping on the bed, before maneuvering himself onto the balcony in his wheelchair. Following the physiotherapist’s instructions, he began to practice standing and began exercising his legs.
By the time Sophia arrived back at the hotel, it was already four in the afternoon. She flopped onto the couch, clearly stressed from the day’s legal battles.
After a while, she noticed that Marcus and their son were not in the living room. Furrowing her brow, she called out, “Marcus, I’m back!”
After waiting for a bit with no response, Sophia had a bad feeling and was about to go look for them.
Before she could get up, the bedroom door opened, and Marcus rolled out in his wheelchair.
After seeing him, Sophia settled back onto the couch. “Marcus, what were you doing in there?”
Marcus replied with a nonchalant expression. “Tristan was napping, and I was watching over him. I must have dozed off too.”
Sophia sighed, rubbing her temples in distress.
It was rare for Marcus to see Sophia so out of sorts. He wheeled over to her side, casually asking, “What’s wrong? You don’t look so good.”
Taking advantage of his concern, Sophia began to complain. “I had planned to settle all of my father’s affairs within half a month so that I could bring you and Tristan back to M State. But today, several buyers who had agreed to purchase some of my father’s assets suddenly backed out.”
Marcus’ expression remained composed as he gently reassured her. “Don’t worry, these things can’t be rushed. We’ll just take our time.”
Sophia moved closer to Marcus. “But I want to go back to M State as soon as possible! Marcus, you know my father bought us an island. We’re supposed to have a grand wedding there, and then we can live there.”
Marcus’ face was unreadable, unlike Sophia’s hopeful expression. He simply said, “The island isn’t going anywhere. There’s no need to rush. We need to settle everything here first.”
Sophia looked disappointed. When would she see even a hint of affection for her in his eyes?
“Marcus, is Tristan still asleep?”
