Ellinor recalled that when they first arrived at Dr. Callum’s place, they were informed by his housekeeper that he was upstairs meeting with a friend.
With that, she temporarily put her suspicions about Bartlett to rest. “So, you’re friends with Dr. Callum too?”
Bartlett, with his devilishly handsome face, gave a charming smile. “Well, I’m quite popular. I have friends all over the world.”
Ellinor scoffed, pulling a face. “Clearly.”
Bartlett jingled the car keys in his hand. “Let’s go. I’ll give you a lift.”
Ellinor glanced around the quiet surroundings. There was not a single taxi in sight. She looked at her son, still a little bewildered from their recent reunion, and, after some consideration, decided to accept Bartlett’s offer.
“That would be much appreciated, Mr. Rex.”
Bartlett sighed in a slightly annoyed manner. “Ellinor, considering our relationship, you really shouldn’t be so formal with me.”
Ellinor gave him a sidelong glance. “Even though we are friends, it’s best to maintain some formality. I wouldn’t want to give people the wrong idea.”
“Fair enough.” Bartlett responded, though secretly wishing for such misunderstandings.
Carrying her son, Ellinor walked out of the greenery and got into Bartlett’s car.
Bartlett drove while Ellinor, cradling her son, sat in the backseat.
As they slowly drove away from the quiet villa district, Bartlett, ever the chatterbox, began a conversation. “Ellinor, heard you recently bought the plot in Blue River Estates.”
Ellinor hummed in acknowledgment. “Who told you? Balfour?”
Bartlett chuckled. “Balfour wouldn’t tell me anything. I heard from a friend who works at the auction house. You know have a wide circle of friends.”
“Seems like that auction house isn’t very reliable, leaking customer information like that. I did purchase the Blue River Estates land under the Blanchet Corporation’s name. Why? Do you have some interest in it?”
Bartlett, not one to feign modesty, smiled and asked, “I am indeed interested. So, I’m curious about how you plan to develop it.”
Ellinor looked out the window at the passing scenery. “I haven’t made a final decision yet. The land was indeed bought under the Blanchet Corporation’s name, so the final decision will be based on the company’s needs and decided at a board meeting.”
Bartlett nodded. “I see. The location of the Blue River Estates is quite good. It’s suitable for a landmark commercial district. If the Blanchet Corporation decides to develop it into a commercial area, could I possibly join the project?”
Ellinor’s gaze shifted from the window to the driver’s seat. “You mean Rex Enterprises wants to collaborate with the Blanchet Corporation on this project?”
“That is indeed my intention. Rex Enterprises also has a plot near Blue River Estates, but it is not as large as the one you just bought. It’s a bit awkward. It’s too small for large-scale development, but too big for a small one. If we could collaborate with the Blanchet Corporation, it would definitely be a
