Chapter 1527
The child by Ellinor’s side wasn’t her original son?!
Could it be…
Noticing Ellinor’s apparent distress, Callum began to question his own theory, finding it a bit outlandish and even inappropriate. He gave an awkward chuckle and said, “Uh… Ms. Mendoza, I know my hypothesis sounds utterly preposterous, but your son gives me a feeling of contradiction. For now, I can’t quite put my finger on it. He doesn’t seem to have any apparent psychological issues.”
“No! Your hypothesis isn’t far-fetched.” Ellinor’s eyes, previously lost, sharpened suddenly. “Thank you for solving a mystery that has been bothering me for days! Dr. Callum, you truly are a professional!”
Callum blinked. “Huh?”
Ellinor was already on her feet. “I’ll have Belinda transfer the consultation fee to you. I have an urgent matter to attend to, so I must take my leave. I apologize for the abrupt departure.”
With that, she swiftly exited the consultation room and descended the staircase.
Callum was left somewhat dumbfounded. What just happened? Was his wild guess correct?
Was the child by Ms. Mendoza’s side not her original son?
But how could they look exactly alike, to the point where even a mother couldn’t tell the difference?
His wild guess was meant to be a bold hypothesis, and he thought it might offend his patient. He never expected this reaction.
While he was still trying to make sense of it all, there was a knock on his consultation room door.
Hmm? Had Ms. Mendoza returned?
“Come in!”
The door swung open, revealing the roguishly handsome face of Bartlett Rex.
“Callum, why are you leaving me out on the balcony for so long? You really know how to play hard to get, don’t you?”
Faced with his friend’s grumbling, Callum could only offer a helpless smile. “I had no choice. An old client came to consult with me. I couldn’t just ignore her.”
Bartlett took a seat across from him. “What kind of client has you so preoccupied? I bet it’s a stunner, isn’t it?”
Recalling Ms. Mendoza’s beauty, Callum nodded wholeheartedly. “Yes! Gorgeous! Not my old client, but rather the new one she brought with her. An absolute beauty! Unfortunately, she’s a mother of three.”
Hearing that she was a mother of three made Bartlett’s expression falter. He naturally thought of the woman who had been giving him the cold shoulder.
“Is her name Ellinor?”
Callum was genuinely surprised. He looked at his friend in disbelief. “Impressive guess! Do you know her?”
Bartlett rubbed his forehead, giving a self-deprecating smile. “Know her? I’ve been secretly in love with her for years! But she never gives me the time of day.”
Callum was even more astonished. “You’re in love with a mother of three? Bartlett, your taste…”
Bartlett shrugged. “Is that important? I like her, and that’s all that matters!”
Callum extended his hand in admiration, giving his friend a thumbs-up. “You truly are a master. When it comes to dating, no one does it better. You don’t care about anything else, as long as there’s a love. I could never.”
Bartlett laughed. “Wrong. It’s not just about dating. If I could, I’d marry her.”
