The Kiss That Sparked it All Chapter 1517

Chapter 1517

Had it just been Ida, things might have been okay. She could have indulged in a deep conversation, but if the news hit the gossip mills of Veronica and Belinda, those two chatterboxes, it would be nothing short of a disaster.

If Marissa and Putnam got wind of the situation, they wouldn’t keep quiet either.

“Nothing happened. It’s just that work has been so demanding that I’m a bit exhausted.” She replied nonchalantly.

Belinda pouted and crossed her arms. “If you’re feeling tired, then don’t go to the office. Why should a woman like you, who’s raising three kids, bear such a burden?”

Taking a sip of her coffee, Ellinor replied, “I’ve only just taken over. Things will settle down once I get the hang of it.”

Belinda cared for her and felt indignant on her behalf. Just then, Veronica nudged Belinda, reminding her to stick to the point.

Belinda then changed the topic. “Ahem, I have a friend who’s really nice. He’s a brilliant psychologist. If you’re free this weekend, would you like to join me for a chat at his office?”

A psychologist?

Ellinor arched an eyebrow. “And why are you suddenly introducing me to a psychologist?”

Belinda giggled. “Because my friend is really handsome and kind. Whenever I’m feeling down, I chat with him, and my mood instantly brightens up.”

Ellinor didn’t think she needed a psychologist, but it reminded her of her son, Adrian.

Ever since Adrian was scolded for his reckless behavior, he hadn’t been himself. Perhaps he needed a psychologist’s intervention.

With this in mind, she nodded. “Alright, this weekend, if I have time, I’ll come with you to meet your friend. Let’s see if he’s as handsome as you say.”

“Great! We’ll set a time this weekend.” Belinda grinned, exchanging a knowing look with Veronica. Their mission had been accomplished.

As long as Ellinor was open to going to the psychologist, initiating a conversation should be no problem.

After chatting with Belinda for a while, Ellinor’s cup of coffee was empty. She set it down and turned to Ida, who was holding baby Layla.

“Ida, give Layla to Veronica. I need to talk with you!”

Ida complied, cooing at Layla to go play with her aunt for a while, then followed Ellinor upstairs.

Once in Ellinor’s room, Ida dutifully closed the door, asking, “Boss, do you have some instructions for me?”

Ellinor didn’t rush to answer. She slowly moved to the floor-to-ceiling windows of her bedroom, staring into the dark night.

“Ida, you, Chase, and I have known each other since we were kids. We’ve weathered many storms together, and I think we trust each other implicitly, right?”

Ida joined Ellinor by the window. “Absolutely.”

Ellinor gave her a small laugh. “Yet you and-Chase, along with others, have deceived me!”

Ida was taken aback. “Boss…”

Ellinor continued. “I was sure I had given birth to triplets. Yet everyone told me I had twins. For three years, I was the only one who didn’t know that I lost a child!”

Ida hung her head in shame. “I’m sorry. When Mr. Blanchet disappeared, it was already hard on you. We were afraid that if you knew you lost a child, it would be even harder.””
