Chapter 1486
Marcus was indeed a bit taken aback. He was surprised to hear a knock at the door of his suite at such an hour.
“Who are you?”
asked, not fully comprehending what the stranger was implying.
At his question, Balfour hesitated, and a sarcastic smirk appeared on his face. “What? You’ve lost your memory, Mr. Blanchet?”
“I must admit that I don’t recall much from the past.” Marcus replied calmly. The man’s accusatory demeanor made him wonder if they had some feud.
Balfour was infuriated at Marcus’ nonchalant attitude. “You bastard! Do you know how much Ellinor has been searching for you these past three years? She’s wasted her youth waiting for you!”
The mention of the name Ellinor created an indescribable pain in Marcus’ heart.
“Who is Ellinor?” He asked.
Unable to contain his anger, Balfour grabbed Marcus by his shirt collar. “You son of a bitch! I should never have agreed to let Ellinor be with a man like you!”
Just then, the sound of the elevator doors opening echoed down the hotel hallway.
Marcus glanced towards the elevator, gently pushed off Balfour’s grip on his collar, and said quietly, “Now is not a good time. Come back tomorrow at 2 p.m. She’ll be out for an hour. We can talk then.”
Balfour released his grip, glanced down the hallway, and, after hearing the sound of high heels from around the corner, he understood. He shot Marcus one last cold glance before retreating to his own suite.

Sophia rounded the corner and saw no one in the hallway. She only heard the sound of a closing door. She entered the suite cautiously and saw Marcus sitting in his wheelchair, just having turned around.
“Marcus, did someone just come by?” She asked while scanning the suite for signs of a visitor.
Marcus didn’t look back. He was maneuvering his wheelchair towards the bedroom! “Yes, the cleaning lady was about to come in, but I told her our child was sleeping and didn’t need any disturbance, so she left.”
Sophia was skeptical. “But I didn’t see a cleaning lady in the hallway when I came in.”
“She went to clean the suite across the hall after I told her we didn’t need the service.” Marcus replied calmly.
די
Sophia’s suspicions gradually subsided. “Oh, someone moved into the suite across the hall. Marcus, come and see what I bought. Let’s decide what to make for dinner together.”
Marcus didn’t turn around. “You can put it in the kitchen. I’m going to check if Tristan is awake.”
Sophia was disappointed. She had hoped that the prospect of cooking together would spark some enthusiasm in Marcus, but he remained detached as always.
What would it take to truly win his heart?
Balfour returned to his own suite from across the hall. Quinton, who had been keeping watch, asked, “Did you confirm that the man living across the hall is Mr. Blanchet?”
Balfour shook his head. “He didn’t recognize me. I don’t know if he was pretending or if he really has lost his memory.”
Quinton was taken aback. “Amnesia?”
“He seems to be under the control of that woman named Sophia, Balfour said, taking a sip from his glass of water. “He said it wasn’t a good time to talk and asked me to come back tomorrow at 2 p.m.”
Quinton furrowed his eyebrows in concern. “You should be careful. It could be a trap
Balfour merely hummed in agreement. He had his suspicions.
Quinton picked up a phone from the coffee table.
“Ms. Mendoza called earlier. I answered for you and told her you’d call back. Also, your father called. I didn’t answer that one.”
