Chapter 1411
Theo’s flight must have touched down by now, right?
Theo had promised to be there with her in the delivery room.
The servants of the Howard estate, hearing the commotion, quickly gathered to lend a hand and promptly relayed the message to Balfour.
Amid the chaos, Ellinor passed out. The last thing she heard was the wailing siren of an ambulance drawing closer.
At that exact moment, Balfour had just escorted his younger brother, Byran, out of the school building, having finalized the details of his upcoming semester abroad.
Now, Byran didn’t have to return to school. After this period, he’d be flying off to a foreign country.
The two brothers reached their car and Balfour climbed in first.
Byran, standing by the car door, didn’t move to get in. His expression was complex as he carefully asked, “Brother, this is likely my last time at this school. I know I’ve never been fond of studying, but I’ve grown attached to this campus. After all, I’ve spent more years here than most since I repeated a few grades. So, I’d like to take a walk around the school and bid my classmates a proper goodbye. Is that okay?”
Balfour squinted at him. “Don’t wander off too far, and make sure you come home early.”
Byran nodded. “Thanks, bro.”
Then Quinton shut the car door and got into the passenger seat.
As the car pulled away from the school, Byran watched it go,
They hadn’t driven more than a few hundred yards from the campus when Balfour’s phone rang. After seeing that it was a call from the family’s landline, he had a feeling it was about Ellinor and quickly picked up.
The housekeeper reported the situation to him, and Balfour’s calm face tightened. He hung up and immediately relayed an order. “Turn around! We’re going to the city hospital!”
Quinton wasn’t sure what had happened, but he reminded Mr. Howard of something he had to do. “Mr. Howard, there’s an important meeting at the company today morning.”
Balfour furrowed his brow and spoke curtly. “Cancel every meeting! Ellinor’s in labor. I need to be at the hospital!”
Upon hearing that Ellinor was giving birth, Quinton understood the urgency and didn’t dare say another word.
Balfour, recalling something, gave Quinton another order. “Try to contact Theo. Find out if he’s back yet. Ellinor needs him right now!”
“Yes, Mr. Howard.”
Back at the school, Byran was unaware of what was happening at home.
He walked around the campus alone, looking at the school that had trapped him for many years. The typically proud Byran felt a sense of self-deprecation. No wonder Ida never gave him a second look. He had never even stepped out of this campus. Meanwhile, she was a successful businesswoman. She was so accomplished and independent. She didn’t lack suitors, so why would she choose him? A loser who couldn’t even get into college.
Even though he knew Ida probably didn’t want to see him, he still wanted to see her, despite his better judgment.
He was about to go abroad and wouldn’t be back for at least three years. He should say goodbye for the last time. He wouldn’t bother her again after this. Also, it would save him from any regrets.
After walking around the campus, Byran didn’t go to say goodbye to his classmates, Instead, he hailed a cab and went to see the person he longed to see the most.
