Chapter 1332
Veronica gave Sophia’s number to Balfour.
After saving the number, Balfour muttered a thanks and turned to leave.
Veronica, feeling a bit uneasy, followed him. “Hold up, I’m coming with you guys to find Ellinor.”
Balfour didn’t stop or wait, but Byran did.
“Veronica, I think it’s best if you just stay put. Your grandparents need you most right now. Don’t worry, my brother and I will find Ellinor; no doubt about it!”
Veronica looked troubled. “But…”.
Byran gently reassured her. “Theo is gone. If you don’t take care of your grandparents, he’ll be throwing a fit up in heaven.”
With misty eyes, Veronica resigned herself. “Alright, I’ll wait for news from you guys. The moment you find Ellinor, you must let me know.”
Byran nodded. “Sure thing, no worries.”
After they left the Blanchet villa and got in the car, Balfour dialed Sophia’s number.
“Hello, what can I do for you?”
Sophia sounded pretty chill at the moment. A complete 180 from the meltdown she’d had when Veronica called earlier.
Without beating around the bush, Balfour asked, “Where’s Ellinor?”
There was a pause on the other end before Sophia replied, “Oh, it’s you, Balfour! Didn’t I already make things clear to Veronica? You never let me see Ellinor, so how the hell am I supposed to know where she is now that she’s missing?”
Balfour, unlike Veronica, wasn’t so easily bamboozled. He asked, “Is 1BCD567 your license plate number?”
Sophia responded coolly, “Balfour, I think you’ve got your wires crossed. If you’re accusing me without any proof I’m not going to be pleased. I’m too swamped with grief over Theo’s death to deal with anything else. If I weren’t, I’d probably sue you.”
Balfour squinted in annoyance. He was at a loss as to how to handle Sophia.
1BCD567 was the plate number Byran noted when he saw Ellinor get into the car.
However, he had already checked the number, and no red sports car matched it.
The road surveillance cameras also didn’t pick-up the car, indicating that not only had it changed its plates, but it also took routes that lacked surveillance, making it incredibly hard to track.
After Sophia hung up, Balfour figured it was pointless to call her again and didn’t.
Just then, another car pulled up to the Blanchet family’s doorstep, and Chase and Ida arrived to join them.
After stepping out of the car, Ida asked Byran, “Was Ellinor with the Blanchets?”
Byran shook his head in disappointment. “We asked around, and Veronica said Ellinor never made it to the Blanchet villa.”
Ida furrowed her brows. “Didn’t I tell you before? You shouldn’t have let her know about Theo before she gave birth. Why can’t you guys do one simple thing? If you can’t take care of her properly, why did you bring her over in the first place?”
Byran was consumed with guilt. He was left speechless by the turn of events.
Meanwhile, Balfour sat in the car, his face stony and silent as he lost himself in his thoughts.
Chase walked over and lightly patted Ida’s shoulder, indicating that she should calm down.
Chase said, “The most important thing now is to find her. If she never went to the Blanchet villa, why do you think she left?”
“Isn’t it obvious? She wants to know what happened to Theo.”
