Chase shook his head. “Nothing. If you don’t know what to eat, just follow my lead. We’ll eat first, then figure out what to bring back for her.”
Belinda didn’t object and nodded without enthusiasm. “Yeah, whatever.”
Chase glanced at her. “What’s up? Disappointed about not having lunch with your boyfriend?”
Belinda rolled her eyes at him. “If I say yes, will you cancel the meeting so Jacob can come have lunch with me?”
Chase grinned. “Nope.”
Belinda glared at him. “Then why did you ask?”
“I was just trying to score a chance.”
Belinda was at a loss for words; this man was relentless.
What a nuisance! She had finally decided to stop being so obsessed with love, only to have this guy mess it up.
“Cough! I’ll call Ellinor first and see what she wants to eal”
Feeling awkward and at a loss for words, Belinda took out her phone to call Ellinor. The call went through, but no one picked up for a long time.
“Weird… Why isn’t she picking up?”
“She probably didn’t hear it.”
Belinda had no choice but to put away her phone, sighing quietly.
Even though it was time for lunch, it was still early, so she had to deal with Chase for several hours. Just thinking about it was annoying.
Meanwhile.
When Ellinor pushed Bartlett away, she accidentally knocked over the soup bowl, spilling it all over both of them.
Bartlett looked down at his clothes. “Whoops, what a waste!”
Ellinor’s clothes were also soiled by the soup; she gave him an annoyed look. “You brought it on yourself with all your messing around!”
Bartlett shrugged with a grin. “So, what now? I have a meeting at the company later. I won’t have time to go home and change.*
Ellinor looked at him with disgust. “Wait, I’ll find a set of Chase’s clothes for you to change into.”
Bartlett nodded. “Okay.”
Chase and Bartlett were about the same size, so the clothes should fit.
Bartlett said the soup had soaked through his clothes, making them sticky, so he asked if he could use Chase’s bathroom to take a shower.
Ellinor didn’t mind, so she agreed.
Then she went back to her room to change as well. The soup had indeed soaked into her clothes, making them uncomfortably sticky, so she took a quick shower too.
While she was looking for clothes after her shower, the doorbell rang. She didn’t know who would be visiting at this time.
The worst part was that she hadn’t lived in this house for half a year, and all the clothes in the closet were from before she got pregnant. Now that her belly was bigger, those clothes wouldn’t fit at all
The doorbell kept ringing, and Ellinor, in a rush to answer it, grabbed a loose bathrobe and put it on before going to open the door.
