Chapter 1049
Belinda snapped out of her thoughts, “Huh? Ellinor, what’s up?”
Ellinor replied, “I’m fine, no problems here, no need to keep watching over me and wasting your time. You can go about your business. Just drop by when you’re free.”
Belinda shook her head firmly, “No can do. I’ve already promised Theo that I would take good care of you here. I can’t go back on my word.”
Ellinor shook her head, “I’ll explain to Theo. There’s no need to do everything he says. He only thinks his work is important; it’s affecting your work by having you come and look after me. You don’t have to follow his plans to a T.”
Belinda didn’t seem troubled, “Ellinor, my work isn’t being affected; I’ve taken leave. Mr. Larios approved it and has already arranged for someone else to cover my work.”
Upon hearing this, Ellinor glanced at Chase. Chase had just said he had no idea Belinda was here, yet he approved her leave. How could he possibly not know the reason for her leave? He was talking out of his ass!
Ellinor sighed.
Belinda being here and watching Chase’s performance was undoubtedly a slap in her face…
“I’ve already arranged Belinda’s work since she wants to take care of you here. Don’t reject her kindness!” Chase had overheard their conversation and chimed in, grinning from ear to ear.
Ifhis girlfriend weren’t present, Ellinor would want to slap Chase!
Seeing no one acknowledging him, Chase turned to Belinda with a smile, “Belinda, you’re on leave now. I shouldn’t be adding to your troubles! But I’m in a bit of a pickle. Could you help me out if you’re free?”
Belinda blushed at Chase speaking to her. She nodded, “Mr. Larios, whatever it is, just say it. I’ll help if I can.”
Chase smiled, “I knew you were the best! Could you book a room for me in a nearby hotel? My girlfriend usually sleeps in, but she woke up early today to visit the boss at the hospital. She’s a bit tired now. I want to take her to rest for a while.”
He was taking his girlfriend for a rest and wanted her to book the room.
Anyone would feel uncomfortable with that. Belinda, though thirsty for love, was not without reason. She frowned, “Mr. Larios, if you want to take your girlfriend to a hotel to rest, why don’t you book it yourself online? It’s very convenient on the phone…”
Veronica, standing nearby, also thought Chase’s request was out of line and chimed in, “Exactly!”
Chase laughed somewhat helplessly, “Yes, I know it’s convenient to book online, but my phone is out of battery. I think it’s not quite right for a man to let his girlfriend pay to book a room. Plus, she’s shy. She’s embarrassed to book.”
Belinda was at a loss for words.
Veronica rolled her eyes in exasperation, “Then you two go ‘rest‘ in the car! You even need someone else to book a hotel for you. Your girlfriend doesn’t seem so shy! What good girl goes to a hotel with her boyfriend in the middle of the day? What a fake innocent!”
At Veronica’s mocking, the girl in Chase’s arms buried her face into his chest, looking like she was about to cry.
Chase held the girl and gently patted her back, comforting her tenderly, “It’s okay, don’t listen to her nonsense! I’m just planning to take you to a hotel to rest. No one can talk nonsense, okay?”
The girl nodded in his arms, looking wronged.
