Chapter 1048
Ida didn’t stop peeling the apple, her slender fingers working skillfully as she finished the last round. She cut off a small slice, offered it to Ellinor’s mouth, and said, “No worries, it’s not a big deal. Before you guys were pals, I looked after Ellinor.”
Belinda blinked, watching Ida gently feed Ellinor apple slices. Something felt off…
Although she worked at Crescent Society, she didn’t have much contact with Ms. Gipson. The woman was a workaholic, not chatty, and kinda of cold, which made people keep their distance.
However, in front of Ellinor, Ms. Gipson seemed totally different. Her coldness disappeared, and there was even a warm vibe.
Belinda had never seen Ms. Gipson behave like this with anyone else.
As Belinda was deep in thought, Veronica, who never minced her words, grumbled, “My brother sure has alot of competitors. Even a woman wants to steal his wife!”
Belinda frowned, asking Veronica to zip it!
Ida, hearing Veronica’s words, didn’t take it to heart. She cut another apple slice for Ellinor, “Boss, since Mr. Blanchet is out of town, why don’t you stay with us after you leave the hospital? I don’t feel comfortable leaving you alone at the Blanchet’s place.”
Ellinor, munching on her apple, considered Ida’s proposal.
Veronica immediately cut in, “No way! She’s a part of the Blanchet family now. How could she just go and live with you guys? I feel even more uneasy! Everyone’s eyeing Ellinor like a hawk!”
Ellinor smirked, wondering what Veronica was scheming now.
Ida glanced at Veronica, a faint light reflecting off her gold–rimmed glasses, “Ms. Blanchet, you’re overthinking. I’m just worried that the Blanchet household won’t take good care of our boss. This has nothing to do with your brother.”
Ellinor fell silent.
Ida’s words only added to the confusion.
Veronica quickly stepped forward, pushing Ida away as if she’d seen a ghost, “Ellinor, did you hear that? This woman is definitely up to no good. Stay away from her! Be careful she doesn’t take advantage of you!”
Ellinor twitched her mouth and said, “You’re even more suspicious than your brother! Alright, stop fussing. She’s a childhood friend of mine. You should call her ‘sister.”
Veronica cast a wary glance at Ida, thinking there was more to this woman than meets the eye. She sure as hell wasn’t going to call her ‘sister‘!
“With my brother not around, I have a duty to keep an eye on his wife and prevent anyone from making a move.”
Ellinor fell silent.
Ida didn’t pay Veronica any mind. She put down the apple, adjusted her glasses, and stood up, “Boss, I’m going to wash my hands.”
Ellinor yawned and nodded. She noticed Belinda frequently glancing at Chase, seeming a bit distracted. Ellinor frowned, thought for a while, and then said, “Belinda.”
