Cold disappointment gripped Helen’s heart when she stood at the edge of the land lot, surveying it.
Forget an office building-even factories were impractical when this land lot is so far from the main road!
While there were projects within the area, every block was starting to lean to one side. Cracks were showing on the walls too-they were obvious signs of disrepair. “Frank… 500 million… For this land! We’ve really taken the fall here.” Helen sighed dejectedly-in her point of view, the land was worthless!
The projects were mostly empty too, and most units were unoccupied.
“Well, you’d never know.” Frank smiled just then and headed toward the projects before Helen did.
They did not make it too far when they found a group of thugs huddling together, playing poker at a rundown lobby.
They all looked very young but were dressed ridiculously.
One of them, who was facing the entrance, spotted Helen and Frank entering and was at once stunned.
“Hey! It’s your call, Blackie!”
“What, did you see a ghost?!
“The hell you gawking at, Blackie?!”
Seeing that Blackie was staring fixedly behind them, the other thugs turned too, and over a dozen pairs of eyes were suddenly glued on Helen. “Shit…” one of them even swore, mesmerized.
Naturally, they were all staring at Helen and ignoring Frank, although she was still in her usual black business suit today.
However, her tall and slender figure,
beautiful face, and long legs covered <thigh highs left every thug
in
stunned.
“Shit, where did she come from…”
“Is she an angel?”
“Can you step on me, girl?” Blackie inadvertently asked, drawing a loud chorus of laughter around him.
“This place…”
Helen was getting uncomfortable from the thugs’ obvious leering and turned toward Frank. “There aren’t many residents left here, and the buildings are mostly abandoned… These thugs are the only people living here now.”
She sighed and shook her head-this land lot was really the worst.
But it made sense, since Larry would not have told Peter to con her mother into buying it.
If it was worth anything, what was stopping Larry from keeping the land and developing it?
In fact, Helen had come mentally prepared, but the land lot still turned out to be worse than she thought. Forget selling it for 500 million dollars-they could sell it for fifty grand and still no one would take it. And then there were the thugs squatting here… Helen could actually feel a migraine!
“Hey, beautiful! Why don’t we go out for drinks?”
“Fuck off. She’s taking me on a joyride!”
“Shit, don’t even think about it. I have my eyes on her! Come on, girl. How about we catch a movie?”
Seeing that the thugs were suddenly
stopping their poker game and
smiling ear-to-ear as they
approached Helen, she promptly tugged on Frank, sensing danger.
