Helen was just about to open her own office door and enter when Cindy yelled, “Hah! Don’t get so full of yourself, Helen! All that grandstanding you did is just a distraction-I was right, wasn’t I? You and Frank couldn’t get those land lots back from Gene Pearce, could you?”
Helen stopped in her tracks and turned to level a cool look of contempt at Cindy. “You’re wrong. I believe Frank can definitely get the land Lanecorp needs. He promised me, and he won’t disappoint me.” “Hah! You said it! Then I’m staying!” Cindy snapped stubbornly. “Let’s see what Frank can do… And what are you going to do if he can’t?”
“Then I will step down as Lanecorp’s board chairwoman.” Helen snorted and headed inside her office.
“Hahaha! Fine… if you say so!” Cindy laughed, having a rush of blood to the brain.
Since Will dumped her, she believed that Helen was adding insult to injury by chasing her back to Riverton, and that she was heartless!
It had never crossed Cindy’s mind that she had achieved nothing in Lanecorp-if anything, Helen’s personal reputation had taken a blow because of her.
Half an hour later, a Rolls-Royce Phantom quietly arrived at Lanecorp’s basement parking lot.
Then, Gene Pearce, the richest man of the east coast, alighted with Frank, quietly discussing what had just happened.
Gene was utterly impressed by Frank. “I’m surprised by your strength, Mr. Lawrence. You killed the strongest martial artist I’ve known with just a blow!”
Frank chuckled. “Haha… You flatter me too much.”
“Quite the contrary!” Gene laughed respectfully. You’re young, but a master in both medicine and the martial arts. You will be a force to reckon with soon… And I’d have to rely on you even more from now on! Still, I’d never repay you enough after you saved my life twice-if there’s anything you need, just ask!”
Frank smiled, a little embarrassed by Gene’s enthusiasm. “Then I shall take you up on your offer.”
They proceeded up the escalator, with Gene observing the company along the way.
“Hehe… Lanecorp shows character
It won’t be a waste giving off a few plots of land,” he said, noddingan approval of the company, with his acumen as a businessman. S
Frank chuckled but said humbly, “We still have a lot to do before we can catch up to Pearce Group.”
“Oh, that reminds me… a man as
extraordinary as you would surely be the CEO, yes? Wait, you’re not28)
Gene asked, and he was left stunned when he saw Frank shake his head.
Frank’s response left Gene even more astounded.
“I’m just the head of the health and safety department.”
