Since Zorn was Birthright rank, Gene naturally had to be careful and gather enough men to deal with him.
In short, Frank had run straight into a metaphorical wall.
He had come to Drenam Limited too early, before Gene could deal with Zorn, which was why Zorn had misunderstood and thought that Frank came to pull a scam. “That’s Gene Pearce,” he said, pointing at the frail man who needed help walking.
“That’s him? He looks… sickly,” Helen murmured, though anyone could see that Gene was in bad shape.
“Yeah. Some people close to him poisoned him with a bug. I cured him yesterday, so he agreed to transfer those land deeds to me.”
Helen was surprised. “Are you saying that Gene has broken his promise?”
“No, he didn’t—we came too early, before he could sort out his personal issues,” Frank replied, watching as over a dozen men entered Drenam Limited with Gene.
“This might get dangerous,” he murmured with a frown, as none of the men Gene brought were Ascendant rank.
“What?” Helen asked, puzzled.
Frank remained silent and kept frowning in thought for a moment before turning to Helen. “Drive back to Lanecorp right now. Gene is going to attack Zorn, and it’s going to be a huge mess. You’ll be in danger i you stay.”
“What about you?” Helen asked worriedly.
“They won’t even scratch me.” Frank smiled. “Did you bring the transfer agreement?”
“Yeah.” Helen picked up a document folder from the backseat and passed it to Frank.
“Okay.” Frank nodded and got out of
the car even as he urged Helen,
“Now go back to Lanecorp
for my word. I’ll be back at
I’m done here.”
“Yeah, I’ll wait. Be safe, okay?” Helen told him seriously.
“Yeah.”
In reality, they did not need words as they could both see the trust in each other’s eyes.
Frank watched as Helen’s car disappeared from view before turning back to look at Drenam Limited’s office building.
He scowled as he could see that Zorn was indeed Birthright rank from what he had done earlier.
However, he also practiced the Dyadese form.
It was a rare technique, and Frank
read from Mystic Sky Sect’s archives that practitioners embody both anima and animus within them. They combined stalwart masculine strength with the delicacy of feminine vigor into a single discipline of great power that must never be underestimated.
Naturally, the form had also a trump card-when pushed too far, they could briefly fuse both animus and anima within their bodies. In an
instant, their pure vigor would bon et
strengthened by a hundred fold
Though that would cripple the individual’s meridian nexus afterward, the combat ability that they could unleash for a brief
moment was devastating.
Without that drawback, the Dyadese form would prove to be a match against the Death Eater-the Lawrences’ legacy.
And Frank had gauged Zorn-the man just might really use that technique if pushed too far.
When that happened, his strength would skyrocket past Birthright rank up to Ascendant rank.
