Just as Bob finished, Rob, who had been staring at Helen for a while, exclaimed in surprise, “Hold on, didn’t they already know that Mr. Pearce owns us now? Then what are they doing here?” Bob frowned at Frank in turn. “Oh, right? What are you doing here? Is it not about those land lots?”
“It is,” Frank nodded in confirmation.
Bob clicked his tongue right then and sighed exasperatedly. “Then what are you doing here if you know that? What, are you going to buy them off Mr. Pearce?”
“Exactly. Are you crazy?” Rob chimed in, sneering at Frank while twirling a finger over his temple.
“See, Helen?” Cindy exclaimed gleefully. “They don’t even know about us-Frank was lying! And he’d even announce that Mr. Pearce willingly sold them… He must be crazy!”
Rob did a double take and turned toward Frank. “That chick’s no looker, but she’s right. You’d have a better chance buying a pillow instead, so that you can get those pieces of lands in your dreams.” “Frank…” Helen turned toward him worriedly.
“Don’t worry.” Frank nodded at Helen, chuckling. “It doesn’t matter if you believe me. Mr. Pearce agreed to transfer the deed to us yesterday. You can call him to confirm if you want.” Frank’s serious reaction actually left Rob and Bob puzzled.
He was clearly not here to cause trouble, and he already knew that Gene had acquired their company.
Could what he said be true, and that Gene had really given up those land lots?
Still, they nodded at each other despite their confusion, with Bob whipping out his phone, “I’ll call Zorn Woss to check. He’s Mr. Pearce valet, just wait a moment…”
Frank remained calm, positive that Gene would have settled the issue, though there was not telling if Bob’s call would reach him.
However, Frank did not expect Bob’s call to actually get through, and Zorn’s phone was suddenly ringing behind them.
“Huh? Aren’t you…?” Zorn murmured, frowning at Frank and the others while holding his phone without answering it.
“Ah, Mr. Woss.” Bob quickly hung up when he saw Zorn, walking up to him and pointed at Frank. “These people are from Lanecorp, and they’re saying Mr. Pearce agreed to transfer all five land deeds to them. “I never heard anything about that,” Zorn said as he strode over, planting himself on the chair and staring suspiciously at Frank.
“Hahaha! See, Helen?!” Cindy was immediately laughing, already imagining the look of Frank’s face just then. “I told you he’s lying! And now he’s exposed! Mr. Pearce’s valet himself says he doesn’t know!”
