“It really is a coincidence.” Frank sighed earnestly.
“Let’s pick up where we left off, Mr. Lawrence. What would you like as your reward?” Gene asked.
He was certainly not worried that Frank would try to con him-he was worried about some unusual requests.
It was known that specialists could be eccentric, asking for things that money could not buy.
And if it was just money, Gene had plenty, or he would not have Draconia’s top songstress as a partner.
“Alright, then I’ll be frank.” Frank smiled. “Earlier today, my wife and I made a bid for several land lots in South Zamri, but someone beat us to it.”
“Hmm?” Gene murmured, and quickly realized that Frank wanted those land lots and chuckled, “Oh, it’s no big deal. I’ll ask Zorn Woss right now and see if he left the bid yet. If he is, I’ll tell him to handle the paperwork you can have all the land lots, Mr. Lawrence.”
“What?!” Rory Thames snapped right then, folding her arms before her chest and frowning. “We spent a fortune buying those! And he hasn’t even cured you. What if he runs away before he actually does it? What are we going to do then?!”
“Shut up. Did anyone ask you?” Gene growled icily, shooting Rory a cool glare and clearly not minding putting her in her place.
Rory snorted in frustration and stormed off.
Gene then turned back to Frank and smiled faintly, “It’s alright, Mr. Lawrence don’t worry about her. A couple tracts of land really is nothing. I’ll have Zorn arrange the transfer when he returns.”
He did not hesitate to agree to Frank’s request, since a couple of plots of land really was nothing with his wealth.
Moreover, Frank had Abel Loggins’ seal of approval, which was why Gene had even less reason to say no.
Money really was not worth much in his eyes.
To his surprise, Frank was smiling as he watched Rory storm off, shaking his head. “No, I think MS Thames is being reasonable. It’s unruly for a doctor to take payment
before he cures his patient.
He then paused before adding, “Moreover, I never had any intention to take those land lots for free. Lanecorp will be paying for them.”
Gene did a double take, and soon laughed loudly, “Impressive! You have thoroughly amazed me with your integrity, Mr. Lawrence! It’s my honor to have met a friend like you today rest assured that you’t have those land lots whether you succeed in curing me!”
“Hehe,” Frank chuckled. “You really don’t have to go that far, Mr. Lawrence. Please hold out your hand-let’s see what ails you.”
“Alright. I’m counting on you now,” Gene said as he extended his wrist. His skin was covered in patches of purple and red, and Frank felta coolness as he touched it
He frowned.
“What’s wrong, Mr. Lawrence? Can you tell what it is?” Gene panicked a little, seeing the hesitation on Frank’s face.
He had come to Zamri under Abel’s suggestion, to consult the healer Abel recommended.
If even Frank failed to diagnose him, he would really be helpless and could only prepare his own funeral already.
