Kallum said coolly, “There are three tasks that Lanecorp needs to see urgently. Fulfill them, then I will pay every dime I’ve taken and turn myself in to the police.” Then, giving Helen a sideways glare of disdain, he said, “How about that? Are you brave enough?”
“Why should I play along?” Helen shot him an incredulous glare in turn. “I’ll deliver you to the authorities right away. Think you still have the right to negotiate?”
“Hahaha!” Kallum laughed, surprisingly unfettered. “You’re too naive, Ms. Lane! Like I said, I have a way out-all the money I took has been donated to a charity organization, which I own myself. However, the headquarters is abroad. Sure, I’d be killed if you took me to the cops, but you’re not getting anything back!”
Helen was left staring at Kallum’s smug face, scowling.
She did not expect such a move from the sly old fox, and she really had to be careful with what he plans now.
Kallum shrugged in turn. “Don’t worry-it’s just three tasks, and it’s for the company’s sake and nothing is impossible at all. I’ll even put it in writing if you want. Do it, and you won’t hear a thing from me… You will have every dime of your family’s money back!”
It was all too obvious something was fishy with those three tasks, but Helen could not accept Lanecorp losing all that money without doing anything.
And having just become the head of the Lane family, she ought to show some results.
Eventually, she sighed and accepted the deal.
Kallum grinned smugly as he mentioned the first two.
The first was to go to Victorget and collect the debt that they owed Lanecorp for two years.
The second was for Lanecorp to
secure at least three plots of land at
the auction in South Zamri next
week which would be used for property development. S
“What about the third?” Helen asked, watching Kallum closely.
He shook his head in disdain. “I’ll tell you if you complete the first two.”
“Fine.” Helen agreed to it without hesitation.
The other board members could already see that the two tasks were impossible.
However, when Owen was ready to
stand
up.
at him
and speak up, they glared
threateningly, making him back off.
After all, they were keen to see how far Helen could go.
Collecting a debt from Victorget was already a troublesome task, if not deadly.
It was only after Helen left the windowless conference room that Helen Saw Cindy Zonda running toward her, panting. “Has the meeting started?”
Helen glowered at her and snorted. “It’s over.”
“What? Already?!” Cindy was at a loss.
Helen’s eyes were glued on her. “Weren’t you informed that the meeting was brought forward by an hour?”
