The other board members quickly agreed with Kallum.
“Exactly! There’s no way we’d cooperate!”
“We can understand airdropping a new leader on us… but a woman and a member of the Lane family? And someone who hasn’t even been to Zamri?”
“Not only did you refuse to behave on your first day of the job, but you’re already flexing your authority… I mean, a new rule in the conference room? Are you kidding me?”
“You have no competence, no influence, and no connections. What, are you going to bring in new clients for us with your pretty face?”
“Pfft… Hahaha…”
The board members kept insulting Helen, with one sleazebag even mocking her for her youth and beauty.
“Are you done?”
Helen remained impassive as she watched them, still standing proudly by the meeting table when they stopped laughing.
Then, she spoke bluntly, “It’s the Lane family who decided that I’ll take over this investment company. None of you get to be upset with this decision… Also, contributing to this company? You bloodsuckers mus be kidding.”
“I’ve done my homework-the
company keeps getting new invoices every year, but finances stay in the red for years. Why? I get why you’re so afraid of me taking charge it’s because I’d prevent you from your shady dealings. You’re all wolves in sheep’s clothing, to be honest. Criminal negligence, unlawful salary deduction, embezzling, abuse of company funds, even selling company secrets… I can list down every single dirty deed each of you has ever done!”
As the board members looked on in shock, Helen paused and laughed icily. “I’d never have taken over a crappy company like this, but I’m the head of the Lane family and I’m obliged to remove any cancerous growth on our interest. So let me tell you in no uncertain terms-ve
come to chase you wretches out of Lanecorp and bring the company back on track. Anyone who’s upset with that can resign, and I won’t stop you!”
The silence was deafening once Helen finished.
Through it all, Frank had been watching interestedly.
It went without saying how stylishly Helen conducted herself, retaliating against the entire board despite being outnumbered. One expected nothing less from his girl-she really was feisty.
Still, the thought made Frank realize why Helen had him come with her.
If these men got pushed too far and decided to stand against Helen, she would really be in danger.
After that, she would have to be on her toes to prepare against any personal reprisals from them, and those were all points of concern from Frank. “Well, being stylish is costly.” Frank sighed, though he felt a little proud inwardly.
“Are you really going to oppose us, Helen Lane?” Kallum growled as she rose to his feet, meeting Helen’s glare.
“You’re the ones who refused to respect me in the first place.” Helen sneered. “Pot calling the kettle black much?”
